2006 ford explorer moderately stiff steering

Could be the steering box, but also look at the entire steering linkage for any signs of trouble.

2006 explorer with yellow engine light on. I am having trouble filling the tank too.

The filter in the gas tank fill inlet needs to be replaced. This filter takes out the impurities during the filling. Caution: I took mine to my local repair shop (not a dealer) and they replaced the filter, but during their repair the dash board module somehow was corrupted and had to be replaced. The dashboard module replace involved getting a new one from the factory matched to the vehicle VIN number and then the dealer doing the final programming of the module. The best bet would be to take the vehicle to the dealer to replace this filter.

What does it mean 'engine systems failure' on the dash, and how safe is it to use the car until i can afford to get to the dealers? 2006 ford focus trend

Hi, the car is going to run poorly and may leave you stranded. We recommend you get the car scanned at your local parts chain and send us the trouble code. It's possible the problem is something you can fix yourself, but we need the trouble code to advise you on the repairs.
