Question about Jeep Cars & Trucks
First off i can not understand the questions.
new car (non dealer private), check.
how many keys did you get? (seems one)
does car start and run with this one key.?
did you first read the operators guide its free, see link below. end.
Ok i think now that you mean , you got a key with no buttons
A full real fob key is RKE, key remote entry key. (missing)
yes your car came with own new and its lost.
there is also a key that is SKIM enabled but no buttons.
this is called. a transponder only key, (has skim chip under plastic) this is a $13 key. (best is to have 2 of these, working at all times) so you can make others.
i edited your post from KEEP to KEY. this helped me...
now my guess, have one key, and it works (to start car and drive )
and you want to know if a real fob works.
sure, but its lost, and you jeep is programmed
for that key, and there is no way to ask it, (dealer only if at all)
in a real dealer, they erase all other known keys first
the take your basket of keys (3+ is best) and program them to work. (take in 2 no fob keys, and 1 real RKE new)
each is a unique key, and are LEARNED to the system
the key is not programmed, it is a complex system. RTM.
you are learning the key to the SKIM module (in car)
the procedures are different on this car in Europe, Bosch system there. Chapter 8E (& 8Q) in the SM book.
the owners manual (USA only) is here
page 16 above tells you , takes 2 to make 3 to 8 keys.
usa cars. only.
now you have the lost manual , operators.
"Customer Key Programming
If you have two valid Sentry Keys , you can program
new Sentry Keys to the system by performing the
the key facts are (with pun)"
do you want that lost key to work in you car, (some bad guy)
if not , you need to get the cars SKIM system to erase all known keys. this is S.O.P. in pro shops... (they at least ask you)

Yours has a keyless entry program in the system for FOB's. There may be a way to do it. I have a scanner and program them in with it. I do it for free, when I am asked out right., not threw the boss. Takes about five minutes.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service

If you open trunk and look on inside of trunk where hinge bolts are you will see code numbers . Owners manual will tell you how.

SOURCE: honda ridgeline key fob program
If it is a factory keyless system than you do need it done by the dealer, but if it is an after market system then reply back with manufacture and model.

It sounds like your FOB needs to be reprogrammed, email me at email@example.com around thursday and I will try to email you the programming instructions for that, If I am not able to you will need to call a locksmith with a T-Code or MVP Pro key programmer or DODge to programm your remote to your ECU
