Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I rent a house with a GE True Temp oven, and I would like to start up the oven cleaner. I set the dial to CLEAN and set the time for 4 hrs, but it keeps blinking red... how to get it to start?

I did get the door locked fine, though.

The manual is gone, and fiddling around with the start, cook and timer switches went nowhere. I knew about the risks, though.

I would advise you not to do that. The oven gets super heated and we see tales of glass shattering, door staying locked and elements burning out. If you flip the breaker it will reset the clean cycle.

Because the cycle superheats the oven, there is usually a button sequence which will be in the manual. If you set a time, then you have set a timer for when the oven will start cleaning, in your case in 4 hours time. That is probably why the light is flashing and in 4 hours time the cleaning cycle will start, and the superheating will start.

Well you could try a a simple trick first. Get some carburetor cleaner and remove your air flow meter from the intake hose housing and give it a good spray. make sure it's clean and dry and not wet with any fluid. check your spark plugs and clean them or replace them as needed. don't forget to check the gap. when was the last time you replace your wires for the spark plugs? I would start with the first since it's the cheapest. then work your way up. Let me know GE

What temp & time to clean self cleaning oven

a self cleaning oven will have a setting that is specific for this. It will heat up to around 550f for 4-6 hours and will apply a safety latch to prevent the door from being opened. You cannot achieve this type of cleaning without going into the "self-scleaning
" mode as the temps are higher that what is available with your normal settings

1991 toyota camry 4 yl auto 357,000 k's ASM2525 test HCppm limit 66 ppm reading 68 ppm any ideas on quick inexpensive fix Thanks Peter

Wow the kms are getting up there!
Make sure that the spark plugs are not worn and the gaps are correct.
Check the air filter for dust and clogged up with oil etc.Only clean with compressed air, blowing in reverse to dislodge the dust.If too dusty or is an oily dirt, replace the air filter.
Has the oil has been replaced in the last 10,000km.If not change it.
Put a quality fuel cleaner in the fuel tank prior to filling up.
Check that the thermostat runs the engine in the correct area on the temp gauge.too cold will cause the injectors to supply a richer mix.
Clean the PCV(positive crankcase ventilator)valve.
Perhaps clean the air mass?flow meter with a cleaner like CRC sensor or MAF cleaner.(it is the unit near the air cleaner housing that has a multiwire plug on it)If not there, clean the throttle body with a good carby cleaner.
Some worn engines put out a better test when warm, not cold or too long running.
Don't leave it idling for a long time while in test queue, shut it down and wait your turn.
I hope this helps you pass.

Fuel injetion problems w/my toyota 1990 4 runner 3.0 motor. the problem is when it got hot and partked in my house this didnt started again after 2 or 3 hrs later I did the engine diagrnostid and it has 2...

The temp sensor could be the problem, try replacing it at the back of the engine inbetween the two cylinder heads, there is a housing with a few sensors on it, replace the one with the green connector and two wires on it.

Ran it 1.5 hrs idling now chugs at low rpm

This may be due to a dirty throtlebody or bad idle air control valve, using crab cleaner clean the butter fly plate or also called the throtle body plate, spray area and clean with a toothbrush and this cleans it good, make sure to open the plate and clean both sides and housing, when restarting you may need to hold gas pedal down to get it going and clear it out, with thew engine running spray cleaner into the idle valve hole, rais eidle a little and spray a few times, the last thing is if the low idle is due to a misfire like its skipping then you may have a bad wire, (sparkplug wire) but clean throtlebody also, hope this is helpful to you and good luck.

Temp gauge does not move. Heat works. No Coolant leaks. Coolant level appears normal.

your thermostat is bad

heres how to fix it

  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the air cleaner.
  3. Remove exhaust crossover pipe.
  4. Disconnect the surge tank line fitting from the coolant outlet.

How to replace engine air filter in 2001 honda odyssey

The air cleaner element is inside the air cleaner housing on the driver's side of the engine compartment.
To replace it:
1. Remove the two pins holding the air intake cover by pulling the head on each pin. Remove the air intake cover.
2. Loosen the four bolts by using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
3. Disconnect the clip from the bolt on the air cleaner housing, then remove the air cleaner housing cover.
4. Remove the old air cleaner element.
5. Carefully clean the inside of the air cleaner housing with a damp rag
(The coolant lines inside the air cleaner housing may be warm. Do not open the hot air valve when cleaning the inside of the air cleaner housing)
6. Place the new air cleaner element in the air cleaner housing.
7. Reinstall the air cleaner housing cover. Reinstall the clip on the bolt; make sure the clip is under the washer. Tighten the four bolts.
8. Reinstall the air intake cover. Reinstall the two pins and secure them by pushing on the heads until they lock.

Hope this helps you through the process.

Hard start when air temp is cold, backfires when warm

Try this, remove (MAF) Mas Air Flow sensor,(be sure key is OFF) so you don't set a trouble code when disconecting wire conector, with some throttle body/air intake cleaner from the outlet side of MAF, spray the sensor clean, let dry, reassemble.Remove snorkle from throttle body, and with a old tooth brush, clean throttle body& plate with cleaner, may take a couple of cans if throttle is badly 'coked' up. Hope this helps.
