Question about Kia Cars & Trucks
Almost all cars have the heating and cooling system that is inside the car run by vacuum lines.
Engine vacuum is distributed to various locations.
Your symptom is often the result of a sticking plastic door inside the black plastic box underneath the dashboard on the passenger side.
This door is only accessible by taking the heat/AC box all apart and repairing it or replacing it.
The job can be time consuming and can be pretty expensive.
God bless your efforts.

It sounds like the driver side air temperature control blend door is not functioning, to repair this you will need to remove the entire dash assembly, a very involved and difficult job even for a professional.

The blend door on the passenger side has broken. Jeep has made a replacement section for the heater box assembly so you don't have to buy the whole thing. You will need to remove the heater/A/C box to replace the part. I have done quite a few of these repairs to fix the problem

Its just a vent damper plate not operating, it's like a gate which controls the flow of air,,usually they are operated by vacuum, or cables.
Service center time, unless you are handy with your own repairs.

there are two a/c lines that run down the fire wall under the van to the rear.right around the bottom of the fire wall the is a connection point on both lines. you will find a leak there .replace the orings and recharge system. also you will need two specail toyota tools to release the couplings.i have done this repair on several sienna's. let me know if this helps.

the passenger side electronic controller is sensing the passenger side temperature is cooler than it really is, which causes the controller to increase the hot water flow to warm up the passenger area...any time you replace a battery or loose your charge, the HVAC module will need to be reset...Try this...
Remove your hvac fuse for 10 sec - reinstall fuse. Start engine "DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING FOR 3 MINUTES" Recalibration of module will accure when power is lost (fuse pulled, battery changed or died) If hvac reset did not work you have a trouble code - reset BCM There are two ways to reset your body control module Go to the GENERAL Remove BOTH battery cables (for the sake of CAUTION remove air bag fuse and wait 5 MINUTES) Hold both cables together for 1 minute - drains KAM (keep alive memory). Put everything back together Start the engine "DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING FOR 3 MINUTES" If you have no broken parts - system not default (normal operation)
If that works it just saved you 600 dollars...dealer costs to repair.
Good Luck...please rate me a fixya.

For those of you who may google this link and are looking for an solution, my local repair shop isolated my 2005 Amanti problem to a $2.78 plastic clip on the temperature blend door actuator rod linkage. It simply fatigued and eventually broke resulting in the actuator rod falling off the actuator door lever. The labor to isolate the problem and to replace the clip did amount to almost $170. Hope this helps those of you in the future.
