Go to autozone's website at autozone.com and register your vehicle. It's free and you will have access to a full online repair manual for your vehicle. That takes care of your manual problem somewhat, so let's see if we can figure out the problem. Check to see if any hoses are loose or leaking. Check the water pump to make sure it is not leaking out of the vent or "weep hole". If the water pump is leaking, then it is bad and must be replaced. Sure hope this helped you!

How to check for leaks of antifreeze/in 97 expedition smell of antifreeze

Hi Sharlene,so you smell antifreeze.Raise your hood and check your antifreeze over flow container, you should have a l and a h mark on it,high and low.If low, then it's leaking somewhere, look at the radiator cap and overflow hose for leak, look at over flow container for leak from hose going to it from radiator, look all over engine, look at top and bottom radiator hoses and clamps for leaks,if leaking there, tighten clamp with flat head screw driver,if no leak is found, get under vehicle and see if any antifreeze is visible, maybe water pump, look on ground for leak and follow, check floor board on driver side, heater core could be bad, check hoses going to heater core from engine firewall.

Why wont my heating work on vauxhall corsa club 2007

Themost likely cause of the problem is the condution of your antifreeze. You see it dosn't last forever 5 years is a good rule of thumb. What happens is you have a small leak someware so you add water . At this point the system is not holding proper pressure 14. 2 lbs because of the leak. Could be the cap or a hose or the radiator it self has broken down and the leak is a fine mist that you can't even see it leaking its a mist. However the block is made of iron and it rusts . This puts rust in the antifreeze that flows through out the entire system clogging things like the heater core and radiator. So at this point you need to know the conduition of the antifreeze there is a test tool similar to a battery tester it has a # of small color coded balls in it when antifreeze is drawn from the radiator they should float if not you need to drain all antifreeze from the entire system and the block it has a pipe thread plug on each side of the block. Fill with water add 10 munite cleaner let it heat up then drain all again you may need to repeat this step. Then remove the 5/8 s hoses from the heater core on the passanger side of the fire wall if you have a mixing valve in one of these lines remove and clean -free up so it moves if its stuck. The heat core can also be cleaned at this point by pluging short lenghts of 5/8 hose on bolth sides with something to catch the flow of water when you gentle force water back and forth from side to side with a garden hose . Then put new antifreeze in and you will be good for 5 years if there are no leaks so check for all leak

My coolant is rapidly disappearing, and I have no clue why?

IF YOU GOT TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM AND DONT HAVE 50 / 50 MIXTURE OF ANTIFREEZE AND WATER. WATER WILL EVAPORATE BOIL AWAY.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS LOOK AT TOP AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSES LEAKS, CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND BOTH RADIATOR CONTAINER AND RADIATOR CORES LEAKING. CHECK WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE. IF LEAKING WATER NEED REPLACING, CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE ANTIFREEZE WILL LEAK IN CRANK CASE OR LEAK IN THE INTAKE GASKET COOLANT WILL BURN WITH FUEL.MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE COOLANT LOST.

I have a 1989 f 250 truck.i brought it to a machanic and he just said that the tempature is running hot and i dont want to mess any thing up so how do i go by fixing this and what could possible be the...

Hello, That sort of sounds like he did not want to work on your truck because it might take big money to fix it.

Here is how to check a few things. When the engine is warm, not hot, take off the Radiator cap and use a flashlight and look at the water inside the Radiator. The motor should be running. You should see good flow with antifreeze circulating in the top portion of the radiator. The antifreeze should not have oil or air bubbles on the surface. Just flowing antifreeze.

If the water is flowing, no oil, no air bubbles, then the radiator is not clogged and the head gaskets are probably good. The water pump is probably good if no antifreeze is leaking from it. Try putting in a new water thermostat. Put the radiator cap back on and run the engine and look for collapsed hoses when the engine is running faster.

You can get your radiator cap checked for pressure or just buy a new one. There are some tools for checking Radiator pressure and Autozone,Advance, and Oreillys all have loaner programs. Once you have a new cap, if there is a leak, it will probably show up.

At this point, you have only bought a thermostat and a radiator cap. The rest of the needed repairs will depend on observation of the water flow I mentioned and if these 2 simple things solve your problem. I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND THE RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BETWEEN COOLING FANS AND RADIATOR SIDES FOR SIGNS OF ANTIFREEZE.CHECK ALL RADIATORS HOSES AND HEATER HOSES.IF ALL LOOK GOOD CHECK ENGINE OIL FOR COOLANT LEAKS.IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE COOLANT LEAKING IN CRANK CASE.YOU HAVE A HEAD GASKET LEAK.YOU NEED TO CHANGE OIL + FILTER. GET THE HEAD GASKET FIX.BECAUSE LEAK IN THE CRANK CASE WILL LOCK UP THE ENGINE.IF CRANK CASE OIL LOOKS OKAY.YOU DONT HAVE THE COOLANT CORRECT MIXTURE.YOU SHOULD HAVE 50/50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER.

Driving for 5minutes cars runs hot smoking then shuts off I have antifreeze in the car

Could be that the heater core in the dash is leaking ,or you could have a bad hose or something leaking coolant in the engine compartment and steam is getting sucked into the air ducts.

BUY YOUR RADIATOR HOSES FIRST MAKE SURE NEW HOSES MATCH THE OLD HOSES. BUY NEW RADIATOR CLAMPS AND HAVE EXTRA GALLON OF ANTIFREEZE. MAKE SURE ENGINE IS COOL IF YOU GOING TO CHANGE TOP RADIATOR HOSE REMOVE RADIATOR CAP OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP IF YOUR RADIATOR DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP FIND RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG.PLACE A CATCH PAN.OPEN RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG CATCH ANTIFREEZE. DRAIN HALF ANTIFEEZE IF YOU GOING TO REPLACE TOP HOSE AND DRAIN OUT ALL ANTIFREEZE IF YOU GOING TO CHANGE LOWER COOLANT HOSE TO WATER PUMP.WHEN DONE CLOSE DRAIN PLUG.PUT ANTIFREEZE IN A SAFE PLACE FROM PETS AND KIDS UNTIL JOB DONE. WHEN YOU REMOVE COOLANT REMOVE WATER HOSE CLAMPS THEN REMOVE RADIATOR HOSES PUT NEW RADIATOR HOSES AND CLAMPS ON HOSES TIGHTEN HOSE CLAMPS DONT OVER TIGHTEN. POUR ANTIFREEZE IN RADIATOR.CRANK ENGINE UP CHECK FOR LEAKS.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL WHEN THERMOSTAT OPENS ADD MORE COOLANT AS NEEDED.

How do i put water for the radiator?

Does your car have a cap or a sealed unit? You don't want a sealed unit. You want to be able to check your water.Push down and Twist the cap off when cold, not hot, fill it up with coolant, 50/50 mix, and fill up the expansion tank. It says coolant on it. The car will balance itself out. Check the water in your battery while you are at it. It dries out too. Then check the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and oil. That should keep you busy next Saturday. Hope this helps.

Antifreeze leak

Ok, Its defiantly the seal that is between the water pump and the engine block that is leaking the coolant.
