99 Saab 9-3 Turn-Key cranks over but wont start. It's A 5 speed manual if you pull it it starts but not by the key. It reads key not accepted. What is wrong?

Inside the key close to the blade is a small chip that the ecm needs to receive the code from to allow it to start the engine there is a pickup coil in the plastic surround the steering lock barrel if the connector is dodgy you can get a key error or if the chip has moved out of position in the key same result
the code has to be read and accepted before it will let the engine start

2000 saab 95 5 speed transmission is locked in reverse. will not let the key turn to on and start position. need to know how to unlock.

Your car should start regardless of the gear its in since its a five speed all you have to do is press the clutch if not something is wrong with your neutral safety switch and or your clutch pedal positio. Switch don't k kw how Saab calls it exactly are you parked in an incline?

With #1 at TDC, cam is normally set in valve overlap position, but what is important is that distributor is in firing position for #1 as well.

Saab 95 2001

first check fuses..then try this..disconnect the battery negative with the key in the run position..all circuits will be dead....then shut the key off..reconnect the battery negative and then turn the key to the run position..DO NO ATTEMPT TO START..wait for 3-5 seconds or until dash indicators go out..this tells you that the factory presets are reprogrammed in the computer..then start the car..see if it works..

My saab 95 won't start I think its the Direct Ignition how can I check it

Need year and 4 or 6 cyl. Assuming 4 cyl, need to know year and miles. Is the check engine light on? Easiest way is to swap out. Have to be careful with the DIC. Must be attached to plugs, must be upright. Could get 4 plugs, make sure it is up right and attached to computer. See if there is spark. Usually foul electrical smell if DIC fails. Also could be CPS (Crank Shaft Positioning Sensor).

Can't get the key out of a 99 saab 9-5

This may or may not work,it worked on a different car. Try shaking the steering wheel back and forth while pulling on key, or turning ignition. Hope it helps.

Saab 95 1998 - wont start

The most common problem is the Direct ignition cassette, followed by the crankshaft position sensor. I am assuming that it cranks, but won't start.
