Question about 2001 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

Power windows won't work

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee...On Monday I pulled into my driveway shut off the AC and opened all the windows and shut the car off. I have never had any trouble with the windows before. An hour later when I went to leave the windows would not work (not from the driver door or any other) The power door lock will not work from the driver side either though it works from the passenger door. The electric mirror control is also not working. None of there features ever failed before. I checked all the fuses I could and they look fine...oddly enough the owners manual shows fuses for everything imaginable but there is no fuse listed for the power windows. Anyidea what it might be?

This is not a fuse blown you have something else like broken wires at the driver door the jumping wires from the door to the body take the boot out the cover to see the wire harness you will find one or two wires are broken reconnect and everything should go back to normal

Ac won't get cold anymore power to compressor but won't click on clutch won't engage possible problems are compressor or evaporator what do you think?

Has the Freon been checked with a gauge to see if there is enough Freon to allow the system to work. Low or no Freon will not allow the compressor to engage. The low pressure switch is most likely activated due to low freon, and will cause this condition.

2001 jeep cherokee only has heat on passenger side

The dual blend door module is broken at the hinge. There is a revised part available at the dealer. You'll need to remove and open the ac/heater housing to replace it. To remove the housing, you'll need to lower the steering column and remove the instrument panel assembly. It's not an easy job but it can be done in your driveway if you have plenty of time and patience. I hope this helps.

Power windows only operate from the driver master control. replaced master control switch and the other windows still do not work, fuses all OK 2001 jeep cherokee sport

Check the ground circuits. Find out what wires are the ground suppllies. take a 12 volt test light from battery positive and probe the circuit if it lights up the ground is good is it does not bad ground. I would first check the wires in the door jam. where the harness from the car goes into the door. pull back the rubber cover I have seen tons of wire get damaged in there from the door opening and closing all the time. hope this helps.

Power windows won t work

There are broken wires in the wiring harness between the frame and your driver's side door. These wires control all the windows and door locks in a 95 Jeep. Same thing happened to me. You will have to cut the rubber boot to get it off and check which wires are broken and repair them.

Possible cause is the wiring loom in the jam of the doors. Constant opening and closing of doors will break the wires here causing intermittent problems with any item associated with doors switches/controls etc.
