Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

HDB841 receiver box displays the red standby light but 98% of time can not be powered to full ON to display channel numbers.

It's had a problem for YEARS of turning itself off (& on) like rebooting itself when it feels like it in the middle of a show. It took maybe 20 seconds? to do the whole on/off/on again cycle (while I missed all the words of the program I was watching) so I would quickly press the remote twice, which would shorten the cycle. Now, it is very sick, & when in standby, pressing the either the remote, or the box itself, instead of turning it ON, will just turn it completely OFF. For the last couple of weeks I've just left the box always ON, with numbers displayed, but occasionally I accidentally automatically turn the remote OFF. Then it takes about 40 (or more?) tries at turning it ON again, while waiting 20 seconds each try, to see if it is going to do it. He is in a 'coma' once again now, & apart from trying over & over again hoping it will come back to 'life', can I open the box up & DO anything? or is the chip too corrupt or worn? Thank you very much!

SOURCE: 2001 pontiac sunfire wont start

I have had the exact same problem. There is an ignition lock that probably went off. There is a fuse box under the hood. The fuse that says ignition on it pull it out and put it back in. This should reset the ignition lock. Its a safety feature because the car thinks that someone was trying to tamper with it.

SOURCE: Radio wont work

wfdyer,

go buy a new radio. You can usually get free installation. If you are a do it yourselfer. Then go to crutchfields web site. They are great, they give you the adaptor plates and wire harness to go from what ever radio you get to the car, with no splicing (cutting and reconnecting of wires) They will tell you what radios will not work and tell you what ones will.

Sorry to say it but you have power to the radio, and there are really 3 things a radio needs to work. power, speakers, and a signal. you can check the antena to make sure its not broken or disconnected. but most of the times its the radio

SOURCE: Crazy stuff going on

i have a 2003 grand prix gtp more than likely it is your resistor pack which is located about center in your passenger footwell. This is actually a very common problem on W-body vehicles. I replaced mine after about 30k miles on the car my blower would only work on the 4-5 setting and eventually went out compltely. Go to www.zzperformance.com and order a replacement from them this is your best price option, as well as anythign else you could possibly need for your GP for pretty cheap. BTW the resistor pack is a royal pain in the *** to replace you wont be able to see it but rather you will lying on your back blindly shoving your hand up in the dash trying to find the two 10mm bolts that drop the resistor pack out. It took me about 2-3 hours replace only because i could not see the pack and it was super hard to get the wrench to stay on the bolts and super hard to get the screws back into their holes. Best of luck to you!

It sounds like your fuel filter has gone it life time and now to dirty to permit the proper fuel flow if any.
Start with checking the fuel pressure at the shredder valve, you should have over 45 PSI i believe but could be wrong, can not remember could be 60 PSI.
If you can not check the fuel pressure, change the fuel filter first then see if it starts. If it does not, then it may be a bad fuel pump and need to be replaced. The fuel pump is electric and have a life time too and it may be at it's end also.
Good luck and keep me posted.

I exchange gear box oill in renault repair room in 28000 kilometer but now (34000 k/3)the car chech gear box has sown, i think repair man make mistake and he decided change gear box can u help me in

there would be no need to change a gear box at 28.000 klm's nor to change the oil in the transmission. If it is an automatic check the oil level and check the colour (should be bright cherry red). IF the transmission is performing as expected then do nothing but reset the light or display. If it is a manual have a friend check the oil level in the gear box and if full ( level at threads for the fill plug) then reset the light or display.. IF you are still not confident then contact the manufacturer direct by the web Customer service and state your concerns and ask them for an accredited service centre that will look at your problems.

It is a common issue. there is no easy fix. The radio will have to be repaired or replaced. The least costly option is an aftermarket unit. You can have new unit installed for less than $150usd

How do i check my codes in a 86 nissan z24 pickup

The self-diagnostic system identifies malfunctions of signal systems such as sensors, actuators and wire harnesses based on the input signals received by the ECCS control unit. Various malfunctions are coded and displayed on the control unit by a series of blinking red and green lights. Results of the self-diagnosis are retained in the control unit's memory and are displayed when the mode selector, located on the rear of the control unit, Fig. 122, is switched to the On position. When displaying malfunction codes, the code number can be determined by counting the number of light pulses. The red light represents the first digit of the code, while the green light represents the second digit of the code. For example, a Code 32, would be displayed as three flashes of the red light, followed by two flashes of the green light. Malfunction codes can be translated as follows:
  1. Code 11 -- Crank angle sensor circuit malfunction.
  2. Code 12 -- Air flow meter malfunction.
  3. Code 13 -- Water temperature sensor circuit malfunction.
  4. Code 21 -- Ignition signal malfunction.
  5. Code 23 -- Idle switch circuit malfunction.
  6. Code 24 -- Transmission switch and clutch switch circuit malfunction.
  7. Code 32 -- Starter signal malfunction.
  8. Code 42 -- Throttle sensor circuit malfunction.
  9. Code 43 -- Injector circuit malfunction.
  10. Code 44 -- All monitored systems satisfactory.

To decrease the risk of serious injury or death, do not use the universal transmitter with a door opening system that lacks stop and reverse features as required by federal standards. This includes any garage door opening system manufactured before April 1, 1982.
ani_caut.gif CAUTION: During this procedure, the system that you are programming will be made to operate. Make sure that people or objects are clear of the garage door or gate being programmed.
  1. Select a universal transmitter button to train.
  1. NOTE: If more than one button is pressed, priority will be given to the lowest numbered channel.
Press and continuously hold the button for 20 seconds. CHANNEL X TRANSMIT will be displayed (X will be 1, 2 or 3) during this time.

After 20 seconds, the display will read CHANNEL X TRAINING to indicate training has started.
  1. Point the original garage door opener transmitter at the overhead console. Hold down the original transmitter's transmit button so the overhead console can learn the original transmitter's frequency and data stream.
  1. Training will be completed in 100 seconds or less. CHANNEL X TRAINED will be displayed when training is complete. DID NOT TRAIN will be displayed if the channel did not correctly train.
  1. NOTE: Additional training may be required for rolling code equipped devices. For additional information, refer to Rolling Code Programming in this section.
