Audi a4 s line 2009 cranks for 5 to 6 secons before starting, timing belt and chain replaced also cam sensor and cranksensor, car runs normal with no lack of power but management light is on

It sounds like the electric fuel pump fuel pressure check valve is defective, you need to hook up a fuel pressure test gage at the test port in the fuel supply pipe that sits over the fuel injectors, crank the engine and start it up, let the fuel pressure stabilize then shut it down, if the pressure drops off more than 5 PSI then the pump is defective and you will need to replace it, the pump is inside the fuel tank.

I strongly recommend that you get a workshop manual and follow it closely as the fittment of the belt is not a straight forward job

Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation
What does this mean? OBD Code P0016refers to
The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) and Camshaft position sensor (CMP) work in harmony to control the spark/fuel delivery and timing. They both consist of a reluctor, or tone, ring which passes over a magnetic sensor, which generates a voltage, indicating position. The crankshaft sensor is part of the primary ignition system and functions as the "trigger". It detects the position of the crankshaft relays that information on to the PCM or the ignition module (depending on the vehicle) to control spark timing. The Camshaft position sensor detects the position of the camshafts and relays the information to the PCM. The PCM uses the CMP signal to identify the beginning of the injector sequence. What ties these two shafts and their sensors together is the timing belt or chain. The cam and crank should be precisely timed together. If the PCM detects that the Crank and Cam signals are out of time by a specific number of degrees, this P0016 code will set.

After replacing the valves,timing belt and the water pump my Audi a4 2001 model. Started misfiring,the specialist checked the timing of the camshaft and the timing chain everything looked ok but continued...


Does it have spark plug wires? If so, check top make sure one isn't grounded or resting on another spark plug wire. If coil-on-spark plug, check for bad cam sensor... Does computer bring up any codes?

I replaced the camshaft position sensor P0340, now the OBD is reading a PO0016


Causes that bring up code P0016 may include:

Broken timing chain


It depends on what engine the car has. The 2.8l V6 30v engine (1998 and newer) has a timing belt that runs the water pump and exhaust cams off the crank pulley, but the intake cams are driven by a timing chain assembly inside the head, with each intake cam driven by its respective exhaust cam. The car likely has valve damage, although if it shut down quickly, there may not be any piston or cylinder damage. The only way to know though, is to autopsy the motor and inspect everything. That alone is going to cost a lot. You'd probably be better off sourcing another engine from an auto recycler such as www.shokan.com in NY, or on eBay or Craigslist. I'd bet that you'd pay less to buy and ship that engine than you would to determine the full extent of the damage to your own existing engine.

I am replacing a cam chain and need to know the settings and best way to do it


The 1.8T is very common in the US. We don't have any diesels here in the A4, but the 1.8T is all over the place.

What exactly do you need to know? You were posting it in the title to your question but it got cut off and I don't know exactly what you're looking for in terms of info for changing the cam chain. If you mean the timing belt, that's a belt, not a chain. I thought that the 1.8T drove both cams off of the belt, unlike the 2.8, where only the exhaust cams are belt-driven by the timing belt, and the intake cams drive off their respective exhaust cams via a chain and tensioner assembly. If you can clarify this, we can proceed.
