"The 3.7L is equipped with a closed crankcase ventilation system and a Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve.
This system consists of the air cleaner housing and
the tubes and hoses used to connect the various system
components. A PCV valve (6) is mounted to the
oil filler housing. The PCV valve (6) is sealed to the oil
filler housing with an O-ring (1)."

When you open the hood look on the drivers side of the engine. There will be a pulley(Power Steering Pump) that your belt goes around, right under it on the back side is where your oil filter is located. It hangs down slightly angled towards the front of the vehicle. (This is of course the 3.7 liter V6)

SOURCE: how to change oil filter on 2008 jeep liberty 4x4 ?

yeah they will say that and it may be your last choice but I know it is in the front of the engine and you need a long extension and ratchet handle and a claw type filter wrench to get it. Worth investing in if your going to do it all the time yourself. but prob not for one time.

If you have tested fuses and bulbs with test light, and they check out,
the next step is to put you jeep in reverse with the key on,and use your test light to probe the wires before they enter the bulb sockets for power,if you have power replace sockets,if not check to make sure wires are still connected to back up light switch on trans,if you find no problem there, replace the switch

SOURCE: Engine serial number location

Service manual says for six cylinder 3.7, the number is located on the right side of the block near the front. I have been looking myself but havn't found it yet. I havn't found any pic or diagram to show it either. Please have a look and post if you find it.
