SOURCE: cant get back door to stay closed

It sounds to me ( correct me if I'm wrong ) like the door latch on the side vertical edge of the door is in the LOCKED POSITION. In order to unlock it perform the following. First electrically with the LOCK button UNLOCK the locks. Now with one hand hold the OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE IN THE OPEN POSITION, while at the same time FLIPPING OPEN THE LATCH. All Done . Now you can close the door. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 93 jeep door lock Broken

I have a better solution... Get rid of the damn YJ doors they ****! I had an issue where the rod inside the door would pop off it's connection and you literally could not open the door from the inside. I would have to open the door from the outside, pull off the inner door panel and usually break at least one of the retainer clips that hold it on, then cut through the plastic inner lining and reset the rod into the connector. I tried several things to prevent it from falling off but nothing ever worked. It annoyed me for three years until I sold it.

Door will not close onmy 2000 truck

Chances are the lock is engaged in the closed position. Look at lock on side of door where the latch assembly is. If the metal loop is engaged it will not close the door. Lift handle and push down the metal loop until it is in the unlock position

YOU PROBABLY HAVE THE LOCK ON LOCK POSITION. OPEN THE DOOR, PULL THE OUTSIDE HANDLE OF THE DOOR UP AND WITH SCREW DRIVER PULL THE LOCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOOR TILL UNLOCK POSITION, THEN CLOSE THE DOOR.

My door locks wont stay locked when put in the locked position

Many Chrysler vehicles won't let you lock your keys in. If locked from the inside, or locked before closed, the doors unlock upon closing. If you don't have a remote, you'll have to lock the doors with the key after you close them.

Check to see if you or someone brushed up against the lock and it is in the closed position. If it is simply push the lock lever back to the open position.

The locking mechanism on the rear passenger door isnt working. The door will close but the metal catch will not lock. How do i repair?

I have seen some times the latch assemblys get rusty or dirty and the inside or outside door handles are pulled and the latch assembly siezes in the open position not allowing the door to latch closed..but this may not be the case .. check to see also if the child lock switch position is not stuck in the halfway position, also check if the latch has not flipped to the close position before the door was closed thus jamming the striker latch..this can be fixed by pulling the catch out while opening the door handle..hope this helps good luck...
