My 97 2.8l diesel hiace is pressurising the cooling system it has a crack in the radiator could this be causing the problem or is it more likley a head gasket

head gasket but the 2.8 l diesel has a head cracking problem especially if the engine is held at high rpm for long periods of time
have a compression test done and it it shows gasket , then while the head is off , have the head crack tested

My 2004 highlander diesel terracan has gone into limp home mode..after having a head gasket can we fix this.

run the fault codes to find the reason for the mode
it could be overheating from lack of coolant ( air lock initially)
gasket problem ( head tension incorrect) or loose or disconnected wiring harness connection from the head job.

Diesel run in radiator inside

Diesel oil in with the coolant, in the radiator? Very unlikely. Engine oil in radiator indicates a leakage like head gasket, cracked block or head. Transmission oil in radiator indicates a leaky radiator where the hydrolic fluid is cooled inside the radiator.

White smoke from 6.5 turbo diesel. already replaced both heads and gaskets

All that work should have fixed the problem, but unfortunately white smoke means coolant, need look for a leak in a head gasket.

Hard starting smell antifreeze

Souinds like beginning of blown head gasket. could be due to corrosion on either head or block. "Diesel knock" could be due to excess compression from water in cylinder (will explain steam, antifreeze smell).

I got white smoke, changed head and head gasket, intake gasket looked bad. My question is: can a bad intake gasket cause the white smoke?

Not on a Gas engine, but diesel engine yes.

Diesel engine white smoke means leaking head, intake, or your turbo is not working.

Gas engine leaking intake would only cause rough idle, no power, etc,,,,

What kind of diesel engine in a 1984 Ford Econoline Class C RV? Are these engines known for head gasket problems and should a rebuild have fixed that?

What you have is a Navistar 6.9L Diesel engine in your van-RV.
They are know to blow head gaskets----nomally its a matter of taking the heads off --clean everthing --check for unusual large crack in the glow plugs pre-cups, check heads for flatness and than slap the heads back with new head gaskets.
This engines if the normal maintenance was done regularily they will do a easy 300,000 miles--with the head gaskets replaced when needed.
the easiest way to check for this is look for bubbles in the coolant resorvoir bottle with the engine running.
Also the other most important thing is make sure that the cooling system is clean--means new coolant on schedule and radiator removed and have it rodded --cleaned out.
You can tell if it needs rodding by draining a little coolant -enough that you can see the tube ends thru the radiator cap neck --to see if they are plugged or open.

The radiator of my 2003 isuzu trooper has a mixture of water and diesel now, and per mechanic, we have to replace the overhaul gasket kit and cylinder head (though without testing), can we just proceed...

how did the diesel get in there? are you sure its diesel fuel or is it motor oil? then it could be head gasket problem. Or trans fluid, which would make it milky pink? Then it could be the trans cooler in the radiator leaking. If someone accidently put diesel fuel in it then just flush it out. If it has been in there long enough to start ruining hoses then replace those. why does he say gaskets? how does it run? does it overheat? then maybee head gaskets. and resurface heads.
