Idle Air Control Valve Could have unmetered air entering the engine pass the MAF sensor , a bad MAP sensor ! I would check the throttle plate first , if dirty clean it . Then check IAC valve if not the throttle plate . GM Idle Air Control IAC Function Diagnostics and Repair

Idle too high

Sounds like your idle curb sensor is shot. Did you replace the shift sensor by any chance, this also could make the vehicle shift hard. Did you change the fluid and screen when the trans was replaced?

My car slams when put into drive. is it the idle

Yes, sounds like the idle speed is too high. If you keep driving like that, you will fry the torque converter / turbine. Since idle is computer controlled, you will have to take it for service tune up. There is one possibility that the rich, high rpm idle used for cold start is not disengaging properly after the engine warms up. Air conditioning will raise the idle speed by a couple hundred rpm, so avoid using it until you have the problem fixed. BTW.....warm engine rpm in idle, and neutral should be around 700-800. Anything over 900-1100 will result in a hard shift into 1st gear and dragging at stop lights.

"unidentified" Fuel System issue - check engine light on

What you have is a vacuum leak in the evaporative emission line.
The solenoid valve or line is broken allowing un-metered air to enter the intake system and is causing the high idle.
Once the leak is fixed, the codes can be cleared and you should be OK barring any additional problems, but the vacuum leak needs to be fixed first.
Let me know.
