I have a 97 chevy k1500 i have changed everthing dealing with cooling system a/c workes great my heater dosent all accuaiters arev working temp gauge shows 165' plz help

If your saying 165 degrees F, that isn't right, in my opinion. With a 5.7L engine and 195 degree thermostat, I want to see over 200 degrees F on a fully warmed -up engine.
Are the heater hoses hot?

2003 chrysler town and coy try, temp gauge goes up and heater gets warm when idling, but as we drive the temp gauge goes way down and heater blows cool air. Any suggestions?


1. Engine Coolant Temperature.
If the thermostat in the cooling system is getting stuck in the open or partially open position rather than opening and closing as needed to keep the coolant at the required operating temperature then you will get the results you have described here with the coolant temp dropping as you drive. The radiator is providing optimum cooling when the car is moving and there is plenty of cold air flow through it.
I am assuming the temp gauge in the vehicle is reading correctly.

Thermostats in the cooling system do become faulty in time and it may well never have been changed (or only changed once) since the car was built and is possibly gummed up with debris. With those symptoms I would definitely change the thermostat. Make sure a full flush of the cooling system is done at the same time and refilled with fresh coolant.

2. In Car Heater.
I would not worry about the interior heating until you change the thermostat on the cooling system. However if you continue to get cold air from the heater then there will be an issue with hot coolant from the cooling system being restricted in flowing through the heater core.

I have a 2008 Chevy Colorado and today my temp


when a temp gauge drops to cold ,it indicates a problem in the cooling system
temp gauge sender units need water to activate the resistance that makes the gauge read so a falling gauge indicates no water around the sender unit --- air lock in the system--faulty wire connection to the gauge sender unit
the ac unit is not connected to the temp gauge so there may be another separate problem there
the temp sensor is an entirely different unit to the temp gauge sender unit and the short term working would be from an altered coolant level from changing that sensor --air lock in system
the temp sensor connects to the ECM to activate the fans and monitor engine operating temp so as to keep the air/fuel mixture exact for the engine conditions
the temp sender unit just makes the temp gauge read
a faulty thermostat will either be stuck open and the engine temp will take a long time to rise or it will be stuck closed and that will cause an overheat very quickly

You did not change the coolant temp sw. you change the ETC which sends a signal to the cpu. It looks just like the temp sw. Look on the driver side head and I believe you will see another one there or look the engine over for another sw just like the one you changed. Not sure what size engine you are asking about.

2001 Chevy Venture - My heat is not as hot as usual and blows cool when idle. Coolant level is fine. Temp Gauge isn't working.


Sounds like you need to have the cooling system flushed out then have them put a new themostat in it. If that dont fix the prob you might have to put a new heater core in it or radiator.

I just bought a 97 jetta gt, the heat is not very warm, its full of anti freez, i did have to add some maybe 1/3 gallon, do ya have to bleed this system possibly? if so how? the temp gauge runs about 195...


I can't remember what mid-temp is supposed to be but I find that my 97 Jetta doesn't get up to half way or even near it most of the time. If you are talking about interior heating and your temp gauge doesn't get anywhere near half I'd say that you have a thermostst that doesn't want to close and is keeping it too cool so you're cabin doesn't heat up. I'd recommend thermostat replacement. I still have to change mine and it gets luke warm at best in my car most of the time.

I have no heat in my chevy s10 pickup. How can I solve this?


the heater core works off of the temp. gauge so it might be the gauge that is bad i would get one that you know that works and change it first. if that don't work than it deals with the heater corer.

I have changed the relays and fuses checked cooling fans which worked when direct power was appied hooked everything back together fans still will not turn on also cooling fan sensor was changed also temp...


replace coolant sensor connector?if so can u get a thermo lazer gun to check the block temp? this will tell u if the gauge is incorect,,,go ahead a bleed all the air out of cooling system and see if that does the trick
