SOURCE: 1996 Chev 4x4, short cab, long box, unstable when hit bumps
sounds like aeither a shock or a stabilizer bar or tie rods you can check all of these yourself , check the shocks by pushing down on the corner of your truck three times and it should bounce no more than 3 times and stop if it seems very loose and bounces alot they are usually bad, to check the tie rods and stabilizer bar just jack up the vehicle and then secure it with a axle jack or some type of block that will kep the vehicle from falling then just reach under and try to move the stabilizer bar and tie rods by hand and see if they move easily if they move by hand they are shot but they may not move and still be bad and you would have to have them checked at a shop
