Could be a couple of things gina there could be a leak somewhere although u should smell it check the ground under car before u start off the other thing is it could be your catylitic converter worn out which would make the car guzzle fuel ok hope this helps

Is there supposed to be or have fuel in the gas line from the purge canister to the tanks,,

No, there isnt supposed to be fuel there, most of the time, this happens when you "top off" your tank, when fuelling!

Overheating exaust system 1997 dodge dakota has caused exhaust pipe failure 3 times in past 60 days. Mechanic said unburnt fuel is burning inside pipe and causing failure. True?

I suspect that it is over fuelling and the cat converter is blocking the exhaust
check ignition timing as it is probably too far retarded which causes later spark in relation to the valve timing position where the exhaust valve is opening allowing burning fuel into the exhaust manifold,

Fuel spills out when fuelling and check engine light came on.

you have a blockage somewhere in the evaporative system, that will cause fuel to spill when fuelling.
have a scan done to determine why the check engine light is on.

I have A 99 jeep grand cheroke when I have less that a quarter of tank of fuell and I make a right turnd it lost fuel and it shut off

Well there could be a problem withthe fuel pickup in the tank but personally I would just keep the tank full above a quarter. And that's speaking as a professional who could certainly take my own fuel tanks or pump/pickup assemblies out of my own cars if I had to. Removing fuel system components is a hazardous and even dangerous activity. If you were on a long cloverleaf and cornering a bit hard, it's not unusual to starve the engine for fuel with that little fuel in the tank.

When fuelling the pump shuts off every 2-3 gallons & gas overflows. how do i fix this?

Don't put the fuel pump nozzle into the filler tube so far, or hold it at full pressure.

I smell gas fumes coming from my car when i park and turn off the ignition

normally fumes come in to vehicle when stopped because of oil leak from rocker cover but check your fuel filler cap seal etc and also incase the tank is leaking just have a sniff at the rear of the car if its the filler cap or tank filler you normally get smell when tank is nearly full and been around a few corners the fuell filler nect becomes pourous and just spills out a bit if so will need replacing .but most time its an oil leak from rocker box or engine
