Problem in starting , erratic running, low power /performance
however bad gas is a bit of a myth as gasoline will ignite if the compression is correct , the spark timing is correct , the valves timing is correct and the air /fuel ratio is correct
if there is a mixture of diesel in the petrol and the ratio of diesel to petrols high ( filled a tank with diesel instead of petrol) then it probably will not start and if it goes will have a very smoky exhaust
regardless of the octane rating, it should fire if the conditions are right even if it is so old it is still leaded fuel
the bad fuel condition is a mixture in the bowser tank from refueler connecting up the wrong tank to the truck ,. water in the fuel, or the wrong ethanol mix from the supplier
try running the fault codes as it is most probably a code reported fault that is giving you "bad fuel" indications

in all cases of problems have the fault codes read
engine light response is conditional on the make and model and will generally only come on when a problem that is costly or detrimental to the components occurs
any other sensor failure will record a fault but not put the light on

The car doesn't run well like yours :>/

Where do you think you got bad gas from? It is normally only from stored gas, or from a gas station with a lot of condensation in the tanks.

Did you fill your car and then within a couple of miles it started to play up? Or has this vehicle been stored for a few years? That is the symptom of bad gas.

What are the indications of bad gasoline?
A:

QUICK ANSWER

The symptoms of bad gas involve a lean misfire, which creates a P0300 code in newer cars, engine detonation and pinging, sputtering and stalling. These occur because the bad gas fails to keep the fuel system clean and introduces contaminants that can clog fuel filters, fuel pumps and fuel injectors. In addition, bad gas can have an octane rating lower than advertised, leading to the aforementioned detonation and pinging.

FULL ANSWER

Receiving bad gas from a fueling station is more common than the industry admits. The only cure for fixing bad gas is to drain the fuel tank and fill it with fresh gasoline while cleaning the fuel system in the process. Bad gas can be caused by gasoline suppliers not mixing the required amount of additives in the fuel, causing them to be less effective in preventing deposits and causing fuel varnish to form in the fueling system. Sometimes the tanks, whether at the fueling stations tanks or in the vehicle's own fuel tanks, are contaminated with dirt, corrosion and water. Because no filtration system is absolutely perfect, even with the various filters and stringent EPA requirements in place, these contaminants end up inside the car and may damage it. Gasoline that is lower in octane often occurs because either the supplier or the fueling station intentionally sells regular fuel as higher octane, profiting over the difference in price.

Hi I have a 2002 G M C envoy it have the code P0440 it does smell gas little before the gas tank can please tell me if you have a solution for the problem thank you

There is a purge system on the gas tank that removes vapor from it for emissions purposes. When there is a problem with this system you get the error code. This particular error means that it is a large leak in the system. It could be a bad gas cap, defective connection for the hoses to the gas tank, there is a canister that absorbs the vapor and it could be bad or damaged.

The Gas Guage on my 1999 Alero is stuck in that position leaving me no way to know how much gas I have, how does this get fixed

The majority of cases with a faulty gas gauge reading is caused by a bad sending unit in the gas tank. But I see what looks like a black stopper pin that the needle rests on? How could the needle get on the wrong side of that pin? So I won't tell you to drop the tank and replace the sending unit, until you know for sure it is a bad gauge or a bad sending unit. Is that a little rubber pin that the needle slipped over? All I could say is rap on the face of the dash a little, rap pretty solid on the bottom of the gas tank, unplug the connector at the tank and plug it back in-maybe you will jar something loose and get the gauge back. If no help, I woulde have it diagnosed at a garage.

Car will turn over but acts like getting any fuel. Fuel filter just changed about 10 months ago. Has had tune up. Has full tank of gas.

I would have the fuel filter changed again, just in case sediment from the tank is blocking fuel through the filter, and check the fuel pump. They put them in the gas tank now and they do go bad. If you jack up the back end where the gas tank is, pehaps you will have enough gravity feed to present enough fuel to the injectors to start the car. That will tell you if the fuel pump is bad.

1998 c1500 , code p300 , bad misfiring shortly after refueling , replaced plugs with no change , could it be bad gas ?? , also put in 3 bottles of injector cleaner that did not help

Probably water in the gas..., although its not common.. ... this problem should cure itself with your next tank of gas.. its not likely to be anything else..is your check engine light on?? have you refilled the tank with gas yet?
Injector cleaner is ok, however they make a gasline product for up north to evaporate water out of the gas tank because the water will create ice or slush in the tank in cold weather..
Methyl Cloride is what I used to use in Canada, in the winter to evaporate water out of the tank.
And maybe you have a lot of water in the tank.... when you take off the fuel filter, you will be able to see water beading up (a clear gasline hose which does not come with your car) will tell you all sorts of stories about water and how clean your gas is (on the gas tank side of your filter)...

I fill my gas tank and it doesn't register that i have a full tank and, now i have a slight ticking noise in my engine

These are two totally unrelated symptoms. The tick sound could be a bad tank of gas or too low of octane. If you using the 87 octane then step up to the 89 Octane. As far as the guage reading bad that could be a bad sensor or a bad guage. You would need to Dealer to check these to tell you which it actually is.

The gas guage on my 2003 toyota sequoia stopped working

I would check the fuse first, and if that isnt bad, there is a float in the gas tank that sends a message to the gauge to how much gas is in the tank
