SOURCE: How do you align a door on a Ford pick-up so that

Please follow the instructions below, but before u loosen the hinges try adjusting the door striker bolt slightly inboard on the door jamb, u will need a T50 3/8 Drive Male Torx Sockert to to do this adjustment, if the moving of the striker inboard to increse closure force works don't fool with the hinges adjustment.

Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Assistant
  • Floor jack
  • Socket wrench
  • Adjustment shims (avail from Napa auto parts)
  • Torx/hex wrench
  1. Open the door and make sure it's properly supported. The best way is to have a second person hold onto it. You can also place and raise a jack under the door, but place rags on the jack first to prevent scratching the paint.

  2. Loosen the mounting bolts with a socket wrench on one side of the hinge--either the door side or the body side. Move the door in whichever direction you feel it needs to be moved (up or down are most likely), and tighten the bolts with the door in its new position.

  3. Check the door's new position. It needs to be aligned so the top of the door lines up with the top of the fenders and the bottom lines up with the lower rocker panel. If not, repeat Step 2 until it is aligned.

  4. Use body alignment shims if you can't properly adjust the hinges by themselves. Loosen the hinge bolts, and insert the shims behind the hinges.

  5. Adjust the door striker on the door jamb if necessary. The striker's bolts should require a Torx or hex wrench. Loosen the bolts, tap the striker in the needed direction--up, down, left or right--and tighten the bolts back.

Your door locks will not prevent your doors from closing, you should be able to lock the doors by hand and then close them with no problem. Take a look on the car where the door closes there will be a brass rod, this is your striker, it is what holds the door shut. This striker lines up with a latch in the door, the latch is on a spring and when the door is open it should be up, when the door closes the spring closes the latch around the striker. Check to make sure the latch is up, if it is not the door(when you try to close it) will typically bounce back toward you. If the latch is down you maybe able to take a flat head screw driver or prying device and twist the latch back up, this should allow your door to close. If you open the latch and it immediately closes it will need to be replaced. Hope this gets you on the right track.

2005 Toyota Sienna XLE - Automatic sliding door not closing.

This may or may not work depending on exactly what is wrong with the door, I cant tell what is wrong without looking at it directly however:
You can try starting with all doors closed and unlocked, keys in hand disconnecting the battery and letting the vehicle sit for 2 min or so, then reconnect the battery. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position but do not start the van. Next press the button to disable the power sliding door for the drivers side, then manually open the door fully, wait 5 seconds, then close it manually fully. Press button the button again to re-enable the power sliding door, then try to use it with the automatic feature either by pulling the handle or using your remote, this may or may not work depending on if the door has somehow become de-initialized (it should work now) however if something is broken inside the door closing mechanism or door closed/open sensors, the door will continue to malfunction.

How to adjust passenger door on 95 nissan pathfinder?

Adjust it for what? I am gonna say that it is probably not striking the stiker latch dead center and is below it and when you close it it hits and you either have to hold up on the door or it hits low and then closes hard. Solution: the striker pin at he opposite side than the hinges is the rod that sticks out where the latch hits. It can be unloosened by a wrench or star wrench or allen wrench head depending on vehicle. Lossen it move it which way up or down till it latches good. this is a cure for bigger problem usually the hinges are worn and the door is dropping down (especially on long heavy car doors, usually 2 door versions) Check the hinges by lifting the door up at the entrance end if it lifts and drops sloppily on the hinge or moves on it without the entire care moving up and down it is worn. If you are actually adjusting the hinges. Try putting a long wobble head extention on a rachet or whatever allows access to the hinge bolts and put them in place and then close slowly and adjust till all body lines line up and door closes good without interference.( this can be a little tedious) use 2 people or 3 it really helps. If all this fails take it to a body shop and for a small fee they will do it in a few minutes.
