Outer door handle does not open door on drivers side how do I fix it? Inner door handle works.

There are one of 2 things wrong here. Either the outside handle is broken, and you'll need another one, or it is out of adjustment and can be repaired. It's a little work to find out either way, the inside door panel must be removed. This is lots of screws, you'll see as you start removing them. The black triangle plastic near the rear view must be taken off, pry the little round plug out and then remove the nut. Finally the panel lifts up, give the bottom a smack upward with your hand, it WILL come up.

Now is the tricky part, you need to see whats wrong. There is a rod connecting the door handle to the door release. If the rod looks like it moves up and down when you move the outside door handle up and down then it needs adjusting.
See the picture of the door handle...the white nylon clip on the right must be separated from where it attaches to the rod, then the rod is positioned higher so the handle can pull it up enough to open the door.

If the rod does NOT move when you move the handle, either the rod is completely loose, or the handle is broken. Remove 2 nuts from the inside and the handle comes out, and put back in a junk yard or ebay replacement. Good luck...Chris

My 2002 nissan altima exterior door handle's latch rod came completely out of where it came from while i was attempting to change the exterior door handle. i can't figure out how that latch rod...

Think there may be a bushing missing and that's also how you make adjustments as well. Below are some pictures I had from my service manual. It wasn't much but I hope it helps.

How do I remove the door panel to a 1993 Nissan pickup to replace a broken exterior door handle?

Look for screws on the bottom of the door and inside the door handle there might be one on the arm rest to ....after doing that feel for the plastic stud that hold the door panel on ... once removing the panel you will see plastic covering the hole door remove that only near the top left hand side ( or right if your replacing the passenger side).... you will then see a a hole big enough for your hand to go through ...remove your door handle nuts from there be careful not to drop the nuts .... there will be a rod that goes to the door handle on the inside remember the way it clips on or take a picture your choice ...... removing the lock from the door handle is easy once it has been removed from the door ... i would practice removing the lock from the spare part to get some kind of idea on how to remove the lock ......If this helps please vote

Replace a door handle on a 98 toyota

you won't get a picture with step by step instructions unless you buy the proper toyota workshop manual and I think you have to take out a loan to pay it off as they are very expensive.
It is a matter of removing the armrest, door lock button, possibly the door mirror if it covers the trim, window winder if it has one, go around the perimeter of the door trim with a blade screwdriver or something flat like a bread knife and gently pry the trim away from the door panel, once it is loose you may have to lift it up as the weather strip may be part of the trim panel, once that is removed you will see plastic covering the door panel so you have to peel that away from the panel directly behind the door handle, there will be a metal rod running from the door handle to the lock, it is retained with a poastic type clip that you just pull back off the rod and remove the rod from the handle or the lock or both.
There will be holes in the door panel to give you access to the retaining nuts for the handle but you will need a small socket with extension arm to make the job a lot easier, if not you will have to use a ring spanner which will take a lot longer to do.
Hope this help you a little

My passenger door hadle was pulled off when I pulled it to open it. I am trying to find a manual that explains to me how to change it. Can anyone point me in the right direction??? It's a Hyundai Tiburon...

These are the procedures outlined in the shop manual (without pictures). If you want the pictures too, go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (by Vehicle VIN). Then you can navigate through the service manuals to find the info you're looking for. (You'll also have access to wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc.)

1. Remove the grip handle using a remover.
2. Remove the inside handle housing.
3. Remove the tweeter speaker using a remover.
4. Remove the mounting screws and remove the door trim panel.
Disconnect the wire connectors.
5. Remove the door grip handle mounting bracket, speaker and door trim seal.
6. Remove the door tooling hole cover.
7. Remove the door glass stopper catch.
8. Remove the door delta chassis.
9. Remove the glass stopper bolts, remove the window glass.
10. Remove the door side weather strip.
11. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the regulator assembly.
12. Disconnect the cable, after loosening the inner handle mounting screw, push the inner handle toward the direction shown in the illustrationand remove it.
13. Remove the door outside belt.
14. Remove the door outside handle and key cylinder.
15. Remove the door latch assembly mounting screws and remove the door latch assembly.

Door will not open

simple solution. take the panel off of your door, and look for the rod that connects directly to your outside door handle. 9 times out of 10, it came loose because it didn't get inserted properly into the cheap plastic hole which keeps the rod connected to the door handle.

Inside door handle

Remove the two screws in the arm rest pocket. Carefully pry around the bottom edge of the upholstered panel to release nylon stud & socket fasteners. Remove triangle trim panel at forward edge of window by prying loose the same fastener in the middle of that panel...lift upwards to remove. Lift the entire panel to unhook the top edge which hooks over the sheetmetal at the bottom of the window opening. The trim around the doorhandle is held in place by three three j-hooks which must be pressed towards the center of the handle to release. The door handle assy simply slides forward about 1/2" before coming loose from the metal in the door. You can buy extra stud & socket assemblies at a chev garage for pennies

Toyota ECHO REAR DOOR HANDLE problem

I have this same problem, and I removed the interior door fascia to examine the cause.
As mentioned, the moving, plastic part of the door handle has a recess that houses the return spring. Under stress (under too little stress, if you ask me), part of that plastic that surrounds the spring ruptures (tears), and the spring can no longer exert sufficient force to get the handle to retract flush against the car.
There is no way to fic that plastic part--you have to replace the entire handle. Searching for "Toyota Echo Door Handle" will find you a number of on-line sites that sell BLACK handles for under $7.00! The dealer wants something like $50-$70 for an OEM part, with the right color.
I have the service manual, and replacing these things is a *****! You have to use a TORX bit to remove the actual latch in the door, to get it out of the way.
There isn't actually any fixed linkage between the handle and the interior latch mechanism. When you pull the handle up enough, a plastic cam on the handle strikes a metal lever within the car door, forcing the latch to release the steel hoop. So once you can ACCESS the handle, swapping it out looks straightforward. The problem is, accessing it is a pain. Make sure you have a magnetic grabber handy for the hardware!
I have yet to find a cheap source for SILVER handles on the Internet (none of the Internet Junkyards have responded).
