Could be a faulty sensor. Is your check engine light on? If not, then it could be bad voltage regulator in altenator, leaky vacuum hose, or bad throttle position sensor. A sensor would have to be check with a sensor tester. THe check engine light usually will be on if a sensor is bad. A faulty camshaft position sensor will also do this just like a windstar I once had.
