When I turn the key, the lights go on, windows work, sunroof works... but when I turn it to the start position, nothing happened. If I jump it at the started with the key on, it runs OK.

Try another battery. Sometimes a battery might have enough amp to turn the lights on, open and close the windows, and even beep the horn. Sometimes it might even display that it have the right amp, but in reality the battery is damage giving you the wrong information.
Test with another battery, you could borrow one from a friend. Being there, done that.

How do you remove the steering wheel on 1988 GMC s15?

a lot of comments with no answer to the question. you need the steering wheel puller tool. take off the nut holding down the wheel and use the "Teering wheel puller" (peice of metal with 3 bolts) 2 bolts mount to the steering wheel to pull, and one bolt pushes on the rod that the nut was screwed on. that bolt pushes and the other 2 pull the steering wheel off.

Under the left side of the dash. Left of the steering column near the parking brake.

Turn the key and nothing happens.

the rod that actuates the ignition starter switch down on the bottom of the steering column is driven off a small rack and pinion gear drive by the key cylinder, either that is broken or other parts around it, if this is tilt steering you have big problems, this steering column is hard to repair, I have done at least 50 of these in my Ford dealer over the last 35 years, never took less than 4 hours to get the whole thing back togeather, also u need special tools if it is a tilt, my suggestion to u is try and find a used column on ebay, they go for around $100, compared to the difficulty of the job and the parts u will need it is cheaper to go that way.

Ignition switch

The Switch is bolted about half way down the steering column on the top I believe. You will have to remove the plastic cover beneath the steering wheel to get to it. Unplug wiring connector from the switch and remove two bolts holding it to the steering column there is a long rod coming from the cylinder lock that hooks into switch, it should come right out after bolts are removed. It will help if you are a contortionist and have very small fingers :)

88 ford mustang ignition

Yes the ignition switch in these years of Fords come apart and cause this problem, the switch is very inexpensive and easy to replace, it is located at the bottom top of steering column, you will need to remove the 2 bolts and drop the column down to replace the switch. There was a recall on these switches, I think it covered all 88 models, call Ford with your VIN #

Ignition

ther is a linkage between the key switch and the ignition switch that is under the dash on the steering column. it is called an accuator. i have been driving fords a long time and i have changed five of them since 1980 when ford put the switch on the column. you will have to start off by removing the steering wheel then yhe ignition switch and so on. it is tricky... but not bad..
