If it only happens when braking, then it is definately you brake system. Most likely you rotors and pads need replacement. If you can do car work, then this is not a difficult job, but requires some wrenches. The parts can be purchased a lot cheaper on-line. A shop will get you for $300-$800. I bought all my parts for my 2001 VW passat for $200 shipped to my door. Good Luck.

I have replaced the radiator in my 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS. The car started running hot and shut down. Took it to a radiator shop and found a crack in the radiator. I have replaced 2 thermostats in the car already. I noticed water running from under my car today and it seems it was coming back out of the overflow. I am stumped as to what is going on with this car.

You will need to pull the control head out and replace the tiny bulbs that are hard wiried to the circuit borad inside, this requires very good skills in solder repair. The light bulbs are available from Radio Shack, the part number is 7219
