Car will not come out of park

I have a 2008 avenger that will not come out of park. I call Chrysler and they will fix it however, the part is on back order which can take anywhere from 4-5 days to a month. What am I suppose to do about getting around until then. I haven't even had this car for one full year. i called customer service at 3:00 central standard time and they were closed. I WILL NEVER BuY DODGE AGAIN. I WISH I NEVER HEARD OF A DODGE VEHICLE. On top of all this there are at least 5 recalls on this vehicle. What can be done about a rental.

Ask them if you rent a car if they will cover it for inconveniencing you for their mistake. if they will, great, if they won't, it looks like your out of luck and are going to have to do it anyways

08 avenger shifting problems

There is a clip the holds the clutch cable to the shift. Sounds like it broke. There was a recall awhile back to replace the plastic clip with a metal one.

My 2008 Dodge Avenger will not shift out of Park. The car has less than 30000 miles and there have not been any issues like this before. I tested the brakes and the brake lights still come on and...

try applying the foot brake as you select away from park
on some cars it is a safety feature that will not allow the car to move unless the brake is on
stops kids and animals from moving the selector with the engine running
check for the isolator in the brake system that moves the shift lock

Dodge avenger 2008 stock in park in the parking lote

Your car should still be under warranty and should not cost you anything to have this repaired. Just bring it back to the Dealer and they can run the vin number on your car and from there, they can tell you if there is going to be a charge or it's still under warranty. Good luck and hope this helps.
