SOURCE: no air or heat up to defroster and plenty of heat to vents

You can use a little shaving cream on the inside of your windshield. It will keep your windshield of fogging up. It also works in the mirrors in your bathroom near the shower / bath tub. If you don't believe me, do a search in google for shaving cream and windshield. Pretty cool, huh?

SOURCE: no heat to cab in 96 dodge ram, will defrost.

you might have a vacuum leak, ck the vacuum line to the firewall where the a/c lines are at and make sure a check valve is in it also.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6235876-no_heat_fan_blowing_cold_air . These are genericinstructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.
Your blend door actuator is on front of the heater box by the core. Check to see if it is actuating when you change the temp setting. Take it off to see if you can open/close the door by hand. Let me know what you discover for additional help.

My 2004 Dodge Dakota heater & defrost air comes

sounds like a heater core problem. Your heater blower is behind the heater core. If it is leaking, you will be blowing engine coolant vapors onto your window. Good luck

The air only blows through the defrost, will not

I'm not 100% sure if your vehicle has this type of heat activation, but lift the hood and find a small black plastic hose coming from the firewall to a vacuum port on the left side of the engine compartment. Inspect this hose for proper vacuum and proper connection. This hose is what gives your heat and A/C system vaccum to open the doors inside the cabin during heat selection. Give it a try.

No blower for defroster

Try replacing the resistor. I think those ones are located under the cowl on the passenger side. Ask a dealer to confirm that first.
