Any advise on changing ignition barrel

If it is a late model vehicle ..It can become very involved as the anti theft modules components are usually part of the ignition keyway and cylinder. They must interface with body control modules which interface with power control modules or your car will not start. In may cases programming or flashing may have to be done by dealership.

Transmission motnana missfire traveling

If your car is misfiring when driving then it could be your ignition module. I had the same problem and changed all plugs and wires multiple times, also had the coil pack fixed. It ended up being the ignition module. Try changing all plugs and wires then have the ignition module checked.

After changing the ignition switch, now the car won't start, or even click when turning the key. What do I do now?

Changing the ignition switch breaks the communication between the key, ignition, and TDM (theft deterrent module). With out these three parts communicating, the vehicle goes into antitheft mode and turns off the starter. Read about it thru this link, also offers ways to fix yourself. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

1996 Jeep Cherokke 5.2 grand laredo, missing on acceleration found loose distributer need to set timing.

Base (initial) ignition timing is NOT adjustable. Do not attempt to adjust ignition timing by rotating the distributor. All ignition timing functions are controlled by the Powertrain Control Module.Adjusting the timing on a Jeep Grand Cherokee requires special tools and an understanding of engine mechanics. Changing the timing on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with distributor-less ignition requires professional reprogramming of the powertrain control module. This guide covers Jeep Grand Cherokee models with distributed ignition only. you can go to this site and it will explain it. www.ehow.com/how_4521340_adjust-timing-jeep have a good day !!

A 1997 ford falcon station wagon that cuts out some times

Problems can be the ignition module on the side of the distributor. (very common) or the ignition coil under the inlet manifold. Both a little hard to access but can be done. The module fault usually kills the motor completely, often wont start cold. the coil often causes missing. Id reccoment changing the module first. Mark the base to engine block with whiteout. loosen the locking bolt on the distributor and rotate it so as you can get at the screws on the module with a stubby screwdriver. Disconnect the multiplug remove the screws and module.replace the module putting the silicon grease on it as per the old one. (grease usually supplied with the new module. Replase the module and multiplug. Turn the distributor back to its marked position and tighten the bolt . Done Usually fixes the problem.
