SOURCE: how to reset hand brake toyota avalon 2005

you have to check the e-brake shoes. these shoes live inside the rear brake rotors. the shoes will either just need to be adjusted or possibly replaced if they cracked from the heat of driving w/ them engaged. sorry there's not a quick fix to this one

If you have a handbrake,,,,, I believe that the adjstment is at the bottom of the lever. Also if you have Drum brakes on the rear, It is possible you are due for a brake job. Have it inspected.

01 toyota avalon vsc, vsc off, and parking brake light on

The VSC uses the brake system to function. So if the regular brake system is not working correctly the VSC will be disabled.
The brake warning light is for the parking brake as well as the hydraulic brake system. So it could be low on brake fluid or something else.

Can,t locate hand brake for toyota avalon automatic

Automatics do not have a hand brake. Only standard transmission vehicles have hand brakes.

Automatics have a parking brake, to be used on hills.

Take a look at this image;

Down at the foot pedals, the one on the far left side is the parking brake. If you don't know this, then you probably shouldn't be driving. Take a taxi or a bus instead. You're dangerous!!

My 1999 Toyota Avalon is stuck in Park! Help!

Check to see if your brake lights are working. Behind your brake pedal is a switch which when activated turns on your brake lights, it is also a safety feature on autos. If this is not working you will not be able to select any gears. Hope this helps

Parking brake light is stuck on after releasing the brake handle. Is there a tension adjustment for the cable somewhere that can be tightened up?

of course there is. but befor you go near that...check your brake fluid. when brake fluid is low, that will cause the parking brake light to stay on.
