If it's electric it doesn't have a pump or lines . Has electric motor , a control module and electric wiring plus steering angle sensors . Could have DTC'S stored in the electric power steering control module .
The power steering system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the powertrain control module (PCM), body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), discrete battery voltage supply circuit, steering shaft torque sensor, steering wheel position sensor, power steering motor, driver information center (DIC), and the serial data circuit to perform the system functions. The PSCM and the power steering motor are serviced as an assembly and are serviced separately from the steering column assembly. The steering shaft torque sensor and the steering wheel position sensor are not serviced separately from each other or from the steering column assembly. The steering column assembly does not include the power steering motor and module assembly.
Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop ,or dealer .

The system can be scanned for faults, in the is case you need that test performed. The pump only runs when the computer control unit commands it to run it is on demand, this information comes from sensors in the system..

Are there an light's lit on the instrument your not familiar with ? DO you have regular Malibu or Malibu Classic ?
Also does yours have hydraulic power steering or Electric power steering ? GM had known problems with EPS - electric power steering . Your best bet would be to take it an have it checked out at a qualified repair shop .

Where is the power steering reservoir on a 2009 chevy malibu

I don't believe you have one. You have the electronically controlled steering. Look under the dash at the steering column. You will see an electric motor that is the power steering. And of course, it costs way more to fix.

Where can I find the power steering resevior

there is a good reason why you can not find the power steering reservoir. It does not have one.

You vehicle has electronic power steering. There is no hydraulic pump, hoses, or reservoir. The steering column has an electric motor and a control unit mounted to it under the dash.

How do you fix the power steering of a 2006 chevy malibu, when drive the steering wheel locks up and its very hard to turn.

a few possibilities.
Low power steering fluid. check for correct amount on pump filler measureing guage.

Loose power steering belt. check to see if the belt slips over the power steering pulley while trying to turn the steering wheel. may need an assistant.

last, but most expensive. Rack and pinion steering bar is defective and needs replacing.

No power steering on 2006 chevy malibu, car got hit on left fr. quater panel thats when the p/s went out wat could it be

Check the belts and fluid? LMAO this is electronic power steering, there is no belt or fluid. This is an electrical problem. GM bulletin says the ignition coil is backfeeding and causing an electrical glich in the steering motor. You have to remember all these electronics are tied together through the computer system. Also these cars have teribble noises in the steerning.

My 2006 Malibu steering wheel is going bad.

The power steering is electric on that car. It has a electric motor on the column, and a control module. There are several causes that could be the problem. You need to have it scanned to get a better idea of what to do. If you can give me the codes you get then I will be glad to advise you on what's best. Good Luck
