Also, consider seriously about replacing the water pump. I have a friend with this exact car, and they had the same problem - the water pump was literally "gone" - when it was pulled and shown to me, I was amazed at the condition - this was the factory water pump and if you can picture what fan blades look like, imagine the fan without the complete blades - they were completely corroded and the pump was seized up - make sure you drive as little as possibe, as this friend had driven on it with the pump in that condition for months, which in turn caused a blown head gasket as well as several other mechanical problems.
Please check :
1. wiring of pump ( Are there broken cable, loose connections)
2. Pump and its relay ( Are they in good condition?)
Weak power to your pump means high resistance on power line make significant voltage drop that cause lower pump power
P1784 low reverse pressure switch sense circuit.
Start by checking fluid level and condition. then check electrical connections. if all ok, probably solenoid in the valve body assembly.
P1767 Transmission Relay Always On. Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input)
Start with the simple and Check your fuses and transmission fluid level, if the level is good and the condition of the fluid is good. There may be an issue with your solenoid or your transmission pump. You can check your pump buy checking your transmission fluid level with the engine not running and take note where the level is. Then start the engine and check the fluid level again, if the level has gone down. The your pump is good, if it does not go down. Then your pump has gone bad and your going to have to rebuilt the transmission or replace the pump.
You better of replacing the whole transmission of the pump has gone bad, since the low transmission fluid pressure would have worn out most for your clutches throughout the transmission.
Thank you for using Fixya and hope is just a simple Solenoid that has gone bad or a wire harness that has shorted out.
It does have a serpentine belt that drives the accessories like the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and air conditioning. Some common things that will cause the belt to come off are the water pump bearing has gone bad, the a/c clutch has frozen, or the tensioner has gone bad.
Hi, ive got bad news for you, this is a clear sing your cylinder head gasket has gone and will need replacing the thermostat will also need checking along with the water pump as one of these failing could have caused the engine to over heat then this would have caused the head gasket to fail.
this is a big job and means your engine has got to be stripped down and rebuilt using new gaskets.
not for the faint hearted.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
plz rate this solution as i have a whoel page of unrated posts, thanks
Check fuse for air pump. Blown. Replaced the air pump if it's in Bad shape. The air pump is only $100 (NAPA) Gotta be water in the air pump. Water gets in air pump...then rapid below freezing conditions the air pump freezes...blows fuse.....set air pump code.
There is a GM bulletin about a new intake tube for the air pump for
exactly this problem. This new intake tube should save the air pump, get the new intake pipe/valve the same time you repair or replace the air pump if it's gone bad. Check the fuse first though, good luck.
