SOURCE: the thermostat housing separated, or blew apart

This is a notorious Aveo problem, These are poorly made. You need a new thermostat housing it includes the thermost on the 04-05' Aveo. It is all one sealed part from the factory. The original part is made of plastic. Chevy has an aluminum one now that won't break but it's MSRP price from the dealer is $91.78 got one and put it on my mothers car works fine now. So you can't just put a new thermostat in it you need the whole housing which already has the thermo. in it.

SOURCE: Water pump on 2005 Chevy Equinox

Water pump is locate on the front center of the engine.

I will rate water pump change as a 7/10 in difficulty scale.

You should check for special tool(s) requirement from the library before you start.

It's a good time to change the drive belt at the same time.

50/50 coolant mix is fine.

If you haul heavy load or in cold climate then bump it up to 60/40 mix

DO NOT FORGET to find or draw the belt routing diagram before you undo the tension.

A 30 second sketch will save you a lot of time.

SOURCE: where is the thermostat located for 2005 chevy

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine. You will find the thermostat Housing you will need to take it off and then you will find the thermostat.

Go to any Advance or Autozone Store and buy the Chiltons Manual for your vehicle. They are around 19.99 and this will have every repair that you will ever need to repair anything on your car. I love theses books. They have pictures and step by step instructions. Hope this helps.

Need to flush cooling system of a 2005 chevy equinox and change the thermostat

You can buy a flush kit from your local auto supply store to add to your cooling system for this and future flushing. As for changing your thermostat - simply remove the thermostat housing - remove the old thermostat - replace with new (be sure it is the one rated for the season at hand) - replace gaskets (or use RTV gasket maker) and reinstall housing. Fill the system with proper % ratio of coolant to water (usually 50/50). Drive away happy.:) PS You can find your thermostat housing by following the top rad hose from the rad back to it at the intake manifold.

The thermostat is located in the water pump next to the 2 heater hoses. I think you have to buy the housing to get a thermostat. Not serviced seperately.

Leaking around thermostat housing tube to mainfold 85 Cad El

You should be able to remove the tube without removing the water pump again. If a new tube is not availabe you can use JB weld to fill gaps and pit holes. Make sure its not the intake manifold gasket that's leaking at the corner.
