SOURCE: How to Replace the AC filter on my Lexus 01 LX 470

Perform steps 1-3 first to inspect whether you have the access doors or not before ordering filters!!!

Did this little project this evening. Figured I'd write it up.

5 Easy steps:

1. Remove glove box door by removing both screws at the bottom of the door.

2. First pop the the little flap with a fuse/relay out of the black plastic shield in the upper portion of the glove box opening. Next push it back behind the shield through the opening. Next remove the 3 screws holding the shield in place. Don't pull this shield out yet!! Read step 3 first.

3. Gently pull the shield out. Be careful because the glove box light is still plugged into this part. It is located on the right side of the shield. Once it is pulled out slightly, unplug the bulb from the harness and now you can fully remove the part.

4. Now you can see the vertical cover where the air filters reside. The cover is about 5 inches tall and about 1 inch wide. It has 2 tabs on the upper portion of the cover. Squeeze these tabs towards each other and pull the cover off.

5. The filters are now exposed. They are stacked on top of each other. Pull the first filter out then lift the next filter up and pull out. Put new filters back in and reverse the procedure.

Parts needed:
2 Cabin air filters (Toyota PN 88568-60010 if you drop CDan a pm)
1 Phillips screw driver

Time needed:
No more than 15 minutes

SOURCE: low brake fluid light remains on even though fluid

was it ever low? if so then the float inside the reservoir is most likely stuck down causing it to keep the light on. if not the float switch may be bad.

SOURCE: lexus lx 470, low suspension fluid, effecting

Is the suspension fluid low. If it is, try first to add specific Suspension Fluid for LX470. It is part number 08886-01805 and any Lexus Dealer would be able to look up. Cost about $ 30 it comes in 2.5 Liters. If driving at higher speeds it is normal for it to drop just a bit and resume to balanced height when parked.

This could be caused by several things: (1) Sensor is bad & ya they can and do go bad. (2) Your shocks may need to be replaced. (3)you would want to diagnose if you have a problem with your AHC.
Unfortunately, the only test I know of is to check if your globes are bad via the "Height Test".
I have no way of knowing whether the other components are bad or if my ride is standard / okay. I just have a gut feeling that it can be improved. At worse, you'll be extending the life of your AHC by reducing wear on it.
AHC height test.
Put vehicle in LOW. Mark fluid level in AHC reservoir.
Put vehicle in HIGH.
Number of graduations (ticks) on the reservoir from LO to HI should be at least 7. If less, your globes are shot and it's very expensive to replace.

I need new shocks on my 2001 LX470. The Toyata Dealership in Longview, TX has quoted me $1618 to replace the shocks. No one else will do it because the shocks have hydraulic fluid running through them. ...

take a look at for replacement suspension kits for that vehicle. it is going to be expensive to swap it in, but once you have that stuff taken out you won't have to fix it again and again and again.

AHC System is Failing. Leak from valve assembly on frame below rear passenger door

here is a good write up on the AHC system and its funcitons, more than likely the hydro-pneumatic accumulator which i believe is mounted on the frame rail under the passenger rear door has failed and more than likely will need to be replaced. I don't believe they can be rebuilt.

2005 lexus lx470 ahc system

Caution on what to put in the LX470 automatic height adjustment system. Dealer said unless correct fluid is put in the system the seals may fail. Specifically warned against break fluid. Cost to repair is over $3,000. I bought a can of the fluid at the Lexus dealer for about $26. The can was approx. 1/2 gallon.
