How to does the front steel water pipe on a fiat siecento come out.It runs underneath exhaust. Can i just pull it or is there something holding it in place.

Stop leaking?


There should be rubber hoses at either end of the metal pipe to allow for engine ,movement. It would be black steel pipe and it rusts out from lack of coolant conditioner.. A final fix for this would be to take it to a muffler/ exhaust shop and have a new pipe bent to shape made out of exhaust stainless steel tubing

Fiat X19 heater hose


There are two heater hoses which go from the engine to the heater core. One begins on the driver side of the engine (comes off the water pump pipe) and goes between the engine and firewall, under the vehicle, and connects to a steel pipe under the vehicle.

The other begins on the passenger side of the engine goes thru the firewall, thru the spare tire compartment and into the tunnel of the vehicle where it joins a metal pipe which located underneath the shifter assembly. Remove the shift boot and the bolts underneath which secure the shift mechanism, and move the shifter out of the way so you can see the hose-to-pipe connection in the tunnel.

For my '89 volvo 240 i need to change the water pump and i feel like i'm doing it wrong cause i'm basically take off the whole front of engine


It has been many years, but I am pretty sure that there is not much that you have to take off. Just the fan and maybe the top plastic timing belt cover.
Be sure to take steel wool and smooth the tip of the water pipe that runs along the exhaust side of the engine block so it gets a smooth seal where it presses in to the new water pump. Also smooth the bottom of the head where the water pump fits up beneath it.
The tough part is keeping the O-ring on top of the water pump from leaking because there is no bolt that holds that seam tight together. What you do is - you snug the bolts that hold on the water pump, then take a lever and pry upward on the water pump to squeeze that O-ring while tightening the bolts the rest of the way.

I was driven onto a verge and the underbody cover on the front offside was damaged and an alloy pipe about 1cm diameter just behind the bumper in front of wheel has snapped. Possibly some sort of hydraulic...


impossible to say. What was inside the pipe? if oil, then it may be from power steering. If water, it has to be the coolant system. If it is nothing, it may be part of the Air Conditioning system, or a Vacuum hose to something. Drive slowly and carefully to a garage.

How to replace a waterpump on a 2001 olds alero 2.4 cam


Water pump is driven by timing chain idler and is mounted on the rear of the timing chain housing. Disconnect the neg. battery cable. Drain cooling system. Disconnect oxygen sensor connector.
Remove upper exhaust manifould heat sheild. Remove exhaust manifold brace. Remove lower exhaust manifold heat sheild. Loosen manifold to exhaust manifold spring loaded nuts. Remove radiator outlet pipe to water pump coverbolts. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold.
Pull down on the exhaust pipe to disconnect it from exhaust manifold bolts. Disconnect outlet pipe from oil pan and transaxle. If equipped with manual tranaxle, remove exhaust maifold brace. Leave lower radiator hose attached and pull down on radiator out look pipe to disengauge from water pump. Leave outlet pipe hanging.
Lower vehicle. Remove exhaustmanifold to cylinder head nuts. Remove exhaust manifold to cylinder head nuts. Remove manifould. Remove timing chain front cover. Remove timing chain tensioner. Remove bolts bolts securing water pump cover to cylinder block. Remove water pump to timing chain housing nuts. Remove water pump attaching nuts. Remove water pump and cover assembly. Separate componets as necessary.
WHEN INSTALLING WATER PUMP MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE TIGHTENING SEQUENCES THAT AFFECT SEALING. My frist one I messed up and broke the pump so becarful.
Installation
If cover was separated from body during removal, join this componets with a new gasket and hand tighten bolts. Apply bearing grease to splines of water pump drive. Set body and assemble into position.
Install and hand tighten bolts securing cover to cylinder block. Install and hand tighten bolts securing cover to cylinder block. Installand hand tighten nuts securing body to timing chain housing. Lubracate outlet pipe "O" ring with antifreeze. (I use RTV) Connect outlet pipe. Install and hand tighten bolts. Tighten bolts and nuts to specification in the following sequence. I'll ad the torque spec. at the end but this is where if you tighten out of order something will break.
pump assembly to timing chain housing nuts.
pump cover to pump body bolts
pump cover to cylinder block bolts (Bottom Bolt First)
outlet pipe to cover bolts
To complete installation reverse removel procedure.
Torque specs are 19 in. or 26mm all except water pump cover bolts which are 124 in or 14Nm
I never torque the bolts just make sure there done in the right order.

How to Replace the Water Pump in a Pontiac Grand Am The water pump is the heart of the Pontiac grand am's cooling system, circulating the coolant. A faulty water pump can cause some serious damage to the engine of your Pontiac Grand Am. To prolong the life of your vehicle's engine, make sure to change out a bad water pump.
2.2L Grand Am Engine Disconnect the negative battery cables before you begin.Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. When the engine is cool, drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan.Elevate the vehicle and remove the right front wheel, the splash shield, the water pump sprocket access plate and remove the exhaust manifold if your vehicle has an n automatic trans-axle.Use the water pump sprocket holding tool (Tool Part Number J 43651) and attach it to the sprocket with access plate bolts, securing the tool to the front cover of the engine.Remove the following bolts to remove the water pump: the three bolts attaching the pump to the engine block, the bolt to the engine front cover, the bolts to the sprocket and the bolt attaching the thermostat housing to the pump.Remove the old pump and install the new one, aligning the water pump sprocket to the hub with a threaded stud.Reinsert the engine cover bolt to the block to the pump, tightening the bolt to 15 foot pounds (20 Nm). Tighten two of the water pump sprocket bolts to the water pump by hand.Take out the threaded stud that was used to align the water pump sprocket to the hub and attach the last bolt to the sprocket to the pump, tightening all three to 89 foot pounds (10 Nm).Remove the water pump sprocket holding tool and attach the timing cover to the water pump sprocket access plate, tightening the bolts to 89 foot pounds (10 Nm).Reattach the splash shield, the right front wheel and the exhaust manifold if applicable.Refill the engine's cooling system with coolant and reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the car and check for leaks when the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
2.4L Grand Am Engine Disconnect the negative battery cable and drain out the coolant from the cooling system when the engine is cool.Disconnect the electrical connector to the oxygen sensor and remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.Remove the following bolts and studs: the coolant inlet housing bolt connecting the exhaust manifold, the bolt to the exhaust manifold to the brace, the studs to the manifold to exhaust pipe and the bolt to the coolant inlet housing to water pump.Disconnect the following parts from each other: the exhaust manifold from the exhaust pipe by pulling the pipe downward, the oil pan from the coolant inlet pipe, the camshaft housing from the brake vacuum pipe, the cylinder head from the exhaust manifold, the heater outlet pipe from the heater hose and the timing chain cover from the tensioner.Loosen and remove the water pump bolts to the engine and the bolts from the pump to the timing chain. Remove the water pump with the cover assembly and remove the cover from the pump.Install the new pump with new gaskets. Replace the cover and tighten the bolts by hand. Attach the pump to the engine and tighten these bolts by hand.Attach the pump to the timing chain housing nuts and the coolant inlet pipe to the cover. Also tighten these by hand.Torque all bolts to the following specifications after all bolts have been inserted and hand tightened: the chain housing nuts to the pump assembly to 19 foot pounds (26 Nm), the water pump assembly to the cover to 124 foot pounds (14 Nm), and the water pump cover to the coolant inlet pipe assembly to 124 foot pounds (14 Nm).Reattach the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold, tightening the nuts to 11 foot pounds (15 Nm), the coolant inlet pipe to the oil pan, tightening the nuts to 19 foot pounds (25 Nm), and reattach the timing chain tensioner, tightening the bolts to 89 foot pounds (10 Nm).Reconnect the camshaft housing and the brake vacuum pipe and reattach the front cover, tightening the bolts to 106 foot pounds (12 Nm).Reattach the exhaust pipe and the manifold, tightening the bolts to 26 foot pounds (35 Nm), the exhaust manifold to the brace, tightening the bolts to 41 foot pounds (56 Nm) and the nuts to 19 foot pounds (26 Nm), the manifold to the exhaust pipe, tightening the nuts to 26 foot pounds (35 Nm), the heater pipe to the heater hose and reattach the exhaust manifold heat shield, tightening the bolts to 124 inch pounds (14 Nm).Reconnect the electrical connector to the oxygen sensor and the negative battery cable. Refill the engine's cooling system with coolant and start the car. Check for leaks when the engine reaches normal operating temperature. 3.1L and 3.4L Grand Am Engines Disconnect the negative battery cable and drain out the coolant from the cooling system when the engine is cool.Remove the accessory drive belt and the water pump pulley.Loosen and remove the water pump bolts and remove the pump from the engine.Install the new water pump, tightening the bolts to 89 inch pounds (10 Nm).Reattach the water pump pulley, tightening the bolts to 18 foot pounds (25 Nm).Reinstall the accessory drive belt and reconnect the negative battery cableRefill the engine's cooling system with coolant. Start the car and check for leaks when the engine reaches normal operating temperature.

When checking for a blown head gasket, one of the most common tell-tale signs is a milky-gray ring around your oil cap. When coolant enters the engine oil through a crack in the head or through a blown gasket, it evaportats and leaves a milky ring around the oil cap. Another easy way to tell is to check your oil dipstick. Change your oil and pull out the dipstick. Make sure that you take note of how far up the dipstick the oil is. Top off your cooling system and fill your cooling resevoir to the top. Screw radiator cap back on and start engine. Run engine for about 20-30 mins. or until it reaches normal operating temperature. Allow engine to cool (engine must cool completely to get accurate oil reading!!). Check oil dipstick again. If the oil has a watery appearence and has risen noticibly up the dipstick, the you probably have a blown head gasket or a warped head. Also look for a dripping, sweet-smelling liquid coming out of your tailpipe. Any of the above symptoms could be the result of a blown head gasket. The easiest way to tell is with a compression meter. This replaces the spark plug and lets you know what compression each cylander is running at. If your compression is abnormally low, then you have a blown head gasket or a warped head. (note: consult repair manual for appropriate compression of each cylander.)

Removal & Installation

2.2L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine coolant.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    Exhaust manifold, if equipped with n automatic transaxle Right front wheel Splash shield Water pump sprocket access plate from the timing cover

  5. Attach Water Pump Sprocket Holding Tool J 43651to the sprocket using the access plate bolts to secure the tool to the engine front cover.

To install:
  1. Use a threaded stud in the water pump hub to align the hub to the water pump sprocket.
    Water pump and bolts Thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe Engine front cover bolt and engine block to water pump bolt. Tighten the bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm) 2 of the water pump sprocket to water pump bolts
  2. Remove the threaded stud.
    Last water pump sprocket to water pump bolt and tighten the sprocket bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  3. Remove the tool.
    Water pump sprocket access plate to the timing cover and tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) Splash shield Right front wheel Exhaust manifold, if removed
  4. Fill the cooling system.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
2.4L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    WARNING Do not rotate the flex coupling more than 4 degrees or damage may occur. Oxygen Sensor (O 2 S) electrical connector Exhaust manifold heat shield Coolant inlet housing bolt through the exhaust manifold Exhaust manifold brace-to-manifold bolt Manifold-to-exhaust pipe studs Coolant inlet housing-to-water pump cover bolt Exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold by pulling it downward Coolant inlet pipe from the oil pan Brake vacuum pipe from the camshaft housing Exhaust manifold from the cylinder head Heater hose from the heater outlet pipe Timing chain cover and tensioner Water pump cover-to-engine bolts 3 water pump-to-timing chain housing nuts Water pump and cover assembly Water pump cover from the pump

2001 fiat siecento 1.1 ocasionaly on start up power steering does not work & warning light stays on, restart & o.k. what are posible causes & what are the chances of it failing while driving?...


Check the tightness and condition of the power steering belt, it could be loose and or worn.
It has a 50% chance of problems while driving.
