Have the codes read. No year make or model.. I can fix convertibles, but care not to mess with them. I do electrical and electronics on engine and transmissions.

Toyota Corolla 1987 heater not working when I turn on heater fan on it's warm for about 30 sec then goes cold and the guage goes to cold and stays there

Most of the times the heater core gets clogged or corroded. inside the fire wall and the hoses run through the engine compartment and into the firewall. You can try disconnecting the top and bottom hoses and using a garden hose to flush out debris. Flush through top hole first then bottom cycle back and forth to break everything up and water comes out clear. Then hook the hoses back up. Also make sure that your radiator l with coolant at the proper level. The heat typically coming out warm then blowing cold is low coolant or clogged heater core but the gauge on the dash should only symbolize engine temp. If it stays on cold, you may also want to check your thermostat to ensure it functions and opens and closes as it should. All cheap fixes that can be done yourself.

When I press the break pedal with car not running the door chime goes off and dash lights come on. Four wheel drive does not engage

this sounds like a wiring issue. something shorting out or getting crossed. due to the complexity this could have i would suggest taking it in to a local shop and have them take a look for a hundred makes tops.

Juguar over heats water hose are soft and the resavior spills out the over-flow check engine light comes on

if your hoses are soft your problem may be that the bottom radiator hose is flattening when the engine is at normal running temp. & not letting enough water through,to check this get the engine up to normal running temp. & watch the bottom hose while you rev the engine to see if it flattens....hope this helps.....cheers

Fan blower stays on after i shut car off i unplug the wire for it so it does shut off and when i need air i plug it back it and my radio stays on after i shut car off and take key radio is...

Some cars are designed to have the fan run for a few minutes after you turn the car off. But if doesn't stop until the battery drains, then it might be a faulty switch or temperature sensor.

Or, if the fan stays running when the engine and radiator are cool you have a very cheap problem: The fan thermostat is stuck closed. A new thermostat will fix the problem--the hardest part of replacing it is finding it. Follow the wires from the fan to the switch--it is usually on the bottom tank of the radiator. Drain the radiator first and save the coolant to put back in after you replace the thermostat. NEVER OPEN A HOT RADIATOR.

If that wasn't it then check the following:
  • Check to see that your coolant level is correct. Top up as necessary.
  • Lay your hand on the radiator (with the engine off) and feel if it is as hot at the top as it is at the bottom. If not, your radiator may be clogged and need flushed or replaced. (Flushing is cheap. Replacing the radiator isn't)
  • Do you get heat from the heater? Leave it turned on high and see if your fan stays running the next time. If it takes care of the problem that could mean you have a kinked radiator hose.

Hope this helped (remember comment and rated this).

I have a yellow wire thats fused running off the battery that is connected to my headlights.... my battery is dead and when i charged the battery my headlights stayed on the switch in the car for the...

unless it is an add on after the car was made it quite possibly is for the day time running lights. because the lights stay on i would suspect it is a relay for the headlights located in the fuse panel near the battery. feel the tops of them if you don't have a diagram... the one that is very hot is the one. there is a chance that the daytime running lights module has failed tho they usually do not come on at all when that happens

Radiator problems

it may be a little off, but the lower water hose seldom gets very hot,, as its this hose that suplyes the engine with ""cold water"" the hot water comes out the top hose,, drains down the rad and cools on the way down then enters the engine through the bottom hose """if your engine stayes running in the normal place on the gage,,,and not over heating""" why are you spending money for nothing???""
you wont get the bottom hose to run hot unless the engine is cooking

Loosen the upper bolt from the top and remove. From the bottom remove the adjuster bolt and remove. You'll have to remove the CV axle and remove the alternator from the bottom of the car. Not a very good design as you may already be aware of.
