Put a little bit of oil in the cylinders and let it sit a bit then recheck the compression and if it goes up then I suggest you need to rebuild the motor because the rings have collapsed

Are your sure of this?? If that is true the engine must have been severely overheated and will require a rebuilt engine be installed.

SOURCE: 2003 Dodge Durango, Code P0308. Detected cylinder

you may have a broken con rod, remove the spak plug, insert a screwdriver in the plug hole, turn the engine over by hand and see if the screwdriver moves up or down with the piston or use a compression gauge to see if there is any compression on that cylinder, if there is no compression or the screwdriver doesnt move up and down then you need to remove the head to investigate the cause, drain the engine oil to see if there is any metal fragments in the oil and on the sump plug magnet, if there is you will have to replace the engine or have your engine reconditioned.

Tune up, air and fuel filters. When was the last time? Also Dodge has several software upgrades for Durango's. Both for the ECM and the TCM. You can call a dealer and ask for your truck, have the VIN number handy, they will need it.

REMOVAL - 4.7L
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) on the 4.7L V–8 engine is bolted to the front/top of the right cylinder head (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).

It is easier to remove/install sensor from under vehicle.

Raise and support vehicle.
Disconnect electrical connector at CMP sensor (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Remove sensor mounting bolt (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Carefully twist sensor from cylinder head.
Check condition of sensor o-ring.

What is the firing order for a 2004 dodge durango

The firing order is a sequence of ignition time when the engine cylinders deliver their power-strokes starting with the number-one cylinder. If this sequence is faulty or arranged disorderly, the engine may not start at all, and if it does start, it may does so hesitatingly, or not run enough well to enable it to drive-or simply lacks the power to move. A waste of gas, and unecessary tear and wear on the engine and its critical components ultimately result. Once the firing oder is correc and in proper sequence, the engine should starts easily and promtly, running as quietly as posiible.

For Dodge 2004 Durango firing-order:
All 6-cylinder K 3.7L MFI SOHC distributorless ignition:
1-6-5-4-3-2 (front 2-4-6) (back 1-3-5)

All 8-cylinder N 4.7L SFI (including HEMI 4-WD)
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 (front 2.4.6.8) (back 1.3.5.7)
(distributorless ignition)
It is also a good thing to try and compare the thread lenghts of the old spark-plugs being replaced with the new.
