The Mass Airflow Sensor is the small electronic black box with a plug in it, located on the intake. It's between the throttle body and the air filter, typically on the air flow hose.
I believe in 2003, we put a 100,000 mile Air filter assembly on the Focus to comply with California Zero emissions rule. Called PZEV. So, your filter should be a combination air filter/housing assembly that is sealed so no fuel vapors can escape. A new assmembly is over $150, so don't replace it unless you find one cheap on ebay. IF you really need one, I can get you one for 10% over cost. You can pay through Paypal.
It only has 1 fuel filter. it is located on the driver's side by the front tire on the inside of the chassis. Make sure you relieve any fuel pressure before changing it
When replacing the filter element, carefully remove all dirt from inside of the housing. Large pieces of dirt and stones may accumulate there. It would be disastrous if that dirt got into the cylinders. Also make sure the air cleaner housing is properly aligned and closed around the filter to ensure good airflow of clean air.
If it turns over the problem is either the spark plugs or the fuel filter or fuel pump. Begin by checking the spark plugs and changing the fuel filter.
There should be plastic intake housing with Air filter uinside. Usualy have 4 clips and sometimes screws. Open it up and filter should be in housing (square box). Do change breather filter also and PCV valve.
