It's in the fuel rail for the injectors and if you have a vortec engine it is under the upper intake manifold

Where is the location of my fuel volume regulator on my 2005 Chevy Equinox?

It is called a fuel pressure regulator, it is located on the fuel pipe that supplies the fuel injectors which are mounted into the intake manifold of the engine (top of engine).

Mercedes 2004 ML350 Fuel Volume Rugulator Control Circuit /open code on PO 001.....car cuts out whilst driving and refuses to start until it cools down a bit...

code p 0001 refers to fuel volume regulator control---circuit open===causes ---wiring---regulator control solenoid
the indications are that the solenoid is opening circuit ( breaking the circuit ) and stops working when it gets hot internally
replacing that unit most likely will be the fix for your problem

My 2002 kia sportage is reading code p0001 can anyone tell me the what this means

P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open
However, this may not actually be correct on your vehicle, as seemingly error code P0001 is not used by many manufacturer's.. it's a 'generic' code.

Here's a couple of links that may be of help:

What does a diagnostic reading P0001 mean?

The P0001 DTC code is one of those codes that is very uncommon and is likely intermittent. Please go to obd-codes.com/pooo1, for more info on this code. its fuel volume regulator control circuit/open. God-Bless!

I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox and for the last few weeks my check engine last has been ON. It's currently at the Chevy dealership because they think it's either the therm or ECT sensor, but can't...

If the ECT is "spiking" high (temperature going way up) the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will shut the fuel off. There may be a problem with the ECT or the circuits to the ECT.

HOWEVER, another thing to look for (you may want to relay this to the guys at the dealership) is to watch for other sensor circuits also spiking. I personally use aftermarket scanning equipment that can "graph" the computer data from several sensors at the same time. (the graphs make it really easy to see if the sensor is getting spiked) I'm pretty sure the dealer there should also have this capability. Anyway, the last time I had one doing something similar to this, I found that there were several sensors getting spiked at the same time. A little investigation showed that not only was the fuel shutting off, but the misfire counters were incrementing on one of the cylinders when the problem occured. It did not misfire long enough or often enough to set a misfire code. Replacing the ignition coil on the cylinder that was "incrementing" fixed the vehicle (including the erratic temperature gauge). Apparently, the faulty ignition coil was what was spiking the sensor circuits.
