Can't fill the gas tank on 98 Toyota Camry

When we try to pump gas into the tank it splashes back up and makes the gas pump cut off like the tank is full, but it's not full--it's only got a quarter of a tank!

I have a 2000 camry that I just fixed today. there is a vent tube and valve on the carbon canister that is located just behind the gas tank and above the cross member. this vent tube will get plugged up by ( of all things ) spiders, dirt daubers, and I even had a mouse pack the tube with dog food. Just remove the tube and the valve from the canister and clean them out. You will now be able to fill your gas tank again.

This is a difficult problem to solve without more information some common problems are that this could be from a clogged or damaged vapor hose or possible deteriorated vapor relief valve on top of the tank. This hose allows air into the tank to stop vapor lock and overfilling or fuel tank.
Cheap temporary fix. Try different pumps at different staions. Also try not to squeeze the handle full throttle when filling. Try not to shove the nozzle all the way into the filler tube, try stopping and slowly easing the nozzle out of the car but, DO NOT do it quickly or **** the nozzle.
You may aso be able to put a fuel additive into the tank to try and clear everything up. I like zMax or full fuel induction service at a local garage. Of course I do this at home but an induction service requires certain equipment that is very expensive and not for the home user or non-professional as you can cause serious damage or personal injury.

Try taking the filler neck off and seeing if it's blocked up in anyway. If it's a new vehicle or new to you, Somebody could have tried siphoning gas out or a kid could have stuffed something down there. This is just speculation. Hope you get it sorted out.

GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF WHILE PUMPING GAS INTO 2002 TOYOTA XLE CAMRY

The problem has to do with air venting from the tank while filling. If the air can't get out of the tank, fuel can't get in. So there is a problem with your tank venting the air.

When pumping gas, the pump pops and shuts off like tank is full. It does this the hole time I am trying to fill the tank.

on the nozzle of the dispensers there is a safety kick off, this will activate whenever gas splashes back into the nozzle. there are two ways to make this not happen, the first is back the nozzle out so it does not have gas splashing back into the nozzle or find another gas station that have different nozzles.

When pump gas into fuel tank gas keep cutting off it act like the tank is full

It is the angle and restricter in the fill tube plus the pressure from the pump causing it to do that. There is nothing wrong with this. You need to find the best angle to use when filling the vehicle. I had this same problem in a 2005 Escape. Had had to find the right place to hold the filling handle and the right position to hold the grip to get it to stop.

1999 toyota camry. Can only pump fuel into tank

What it does have is a plastic checkball(almost like a ping pong ball ) in the tank which prevents back flow up the filler neck. If this hangs up,it will cause poor flow the right way fuel goes in the tank. I have poked around and got these to free up before. The last time I used a small peice of plastic tubing and successufully freed up the ball.Severe cases my require tank removal as there are some makes and models out there requiring a replacement fuel tank.

Fuel splash during fill-up

pull out the gas nozzle a little and then try again...because some tanks are just made wrong and if you move the nozzle back out of the tank and try to pump a little slower that might help you...hope this will help you...good luck..

CAR STALLED OUT, 98 CAMRY FWD LE 4C

Could be either. And make sure you don't have 2 filters also.
Find the fuel filter and disconnect the fuel line coming FROM the gas tank.
Be extremely carefull and use a gas can (or jar) or equivilant, put the fuel line in the gas can and have an assistant start the car. Normally if you just turn the car to the 'on' position the fuel pump will pressurize the line anyway. Becarefull you don't have the hose pointed at you or get gas splashed in your eyes (use safety glasses), If the pump is working gas will come out under alot of pressure (again becarefull). If nothing happens then it's the pump. Also check fuses (inside and outside under the hood).
