The air conditioning does not blow through front vents but through windshield vents, what is the problem?

This is a common problem on all Astro/Safari vans. The problem is a leak in the vaccum lines that control the vaccum switch responsible for changing air direction from the defrosters, dash vents, floor vents..etc.
Many of the problems that plaque the Astro/Sarfari vans and many other "Mini-Vans" is the build up of excess heat in the engine compartment. It\'s a tight place to put a V6-4.3 Vortec engine and the heat generated bounces back and cooks everything on the engine (coils, modules, sensors, wiring, and of course plastic vaccum hoses). No need to mess with your switches or anything behind the dash -- replace those thin plastic vaccum hoses to operate the vaccum switch (located just below the A/C canisters, to the right of the heater/ac blower housing) and your dash switches will magically send heated or cooled air where you want it.

could be heater control valve if it has one it should be in the heater hose or check all the vaccum lines there could be one off or broke not allowing vaccum to the actuator to move the blend door to heat

Vaccum line location on transmission on 1994 ford ranger 4.0

Remove heat shield covering on passenger side of transmission. Pry heat shield from oil pan and then carefully slide it forward to expose vacuum diaphram. There's your vacuum hose!
You can find this and much, much more info in the Haynes Ford Ranger 1993 thru 1997 manual for around $20 at most auto parts stores.

1998 ford ranger ac only works below 45 mph blows hot at higher

I would say that this problem is caused be a vaccum leak. Ford was known for using vaccum in their heat/ac systems....and you loose vaccum as you press the accellerator.

I had this issue with a Grand Marquis....and was a pain to find the leak.

You really need to look over all the vaccum lines that run under the dash.

Air conditioning and heating problem

The blend door actuator is vacuum driven. It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Trace the vacuum lines starting at the firewall in front of the passenger side. With the heater or AC on HIGH and directed at the front vents, listen for a leak or trace the vacuum line back ward to try to find a leak. All the best.

Heat fan not working in 2001 ford escape

GM uses vaccum to operate the blend doors on their heating and air conditioning systems. There is either a cracked hard plastic line or a cracked, unplugged vaccum line somewhere. If you have done any work to the vehicle latelt I would start by looking there first.
Please remember to rate this solution.
