no make or model or year so here is a guess
if it is a cable driven speedo --replace the inner cable

The speedo module is a computer and the needls is driven by a small electric motor. You will need to remove the cluster and send it out to a repair shop. Do a google search for one, there are many.

My car odometer pointer does not work properly, but counter is ok

Assuming it is a mechanical speedo and not electronic. The needle sits in jewelled watch type bearings with a counter hair spring holding it at zero. It is usually driven magnetically with an inner and outer drum. the inner drum being driven by the speedo cable. If oil or dirt get between the two drums it creates havock. Suggest careful disassembly of outer casing then wash with metholated spirit and air dry. Take care not to damage the hair spring.

2000 odyssey speedometer needle stuck past 140mph

I also had the same problem. After calling around to get quotes in the $100+ for junkyard clusters I decided to tear the thing apart to see what was up. Once apart I noticed the speedo and tach needles are weighted to drop the needle to 6 o'clock. All I had to do was spin the speedo needle back to the rest and all was well. I'm guessing when we reset the trip odometer there must have been a short in the board that pulsed the speedo and caused it to spin beyond return. I tested the trip buttons a few times and no short yet. please give me a good rating :) i only need one more! thanks a bunch!

F150 Speedometer issue

This is your speed sensor. Now i do not know if this is going to be cable driven or electrical because they used both in 95. Your local auto parts store will tell you exactly what kind is in your truck. I just changed one friday on a 94 ford escort and it was electrical. The part was around 20 dollars for the speed sensor.

The speedometer is not working on my 1995 isuzu rodeo 2 wheel drive

I think its cable driven (not electronic) with car on flat/safe ground crawl under and remove speedo cable from rear of gear box and try to quickly turn the inner cable (both ways) while someone watches the speedo for any action, if nothing happening remove complete cable-look for break in inner cable/replace. if needle did flicker then check for worn/broken gear in speedo head/ gearbox (rare), 9 times out of 10 cable broke.

Speed

The speedometer is driven by a signal from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). The VSS is mounted on the Power Steering Speed Sensoron the top of the back of the transmission (differential housing). There is an electrical connector and two small screws that hold the VSS to the PSSS. Be careful, there is a small link (key) that is between the VSS and PSSS which mechanically drives the VSS.
