When i put my indicator on to turn right my lights come on what would cause this and how to rectify the problem

More then likely the problem is the multifunction switch that you use to turn the signal on.

Intermittent charging


Generally that indication implies generator failure. Generator failure can come in multiple forms. A faulty ground will cause the generator not to charge and potentially burn it up. A severed phase wind (remember, your alternator is really a three-phase generator with a six pulse front end rectifier set) will cause the light to intermittently come on along with weak charging output. A voltage regulator failure will cause zero field current in the rotor. A brush failure will also cause a generator failure light to come on and stay on. A rectifier failure (any of the six) will cause the generator not to charge properly and turn on the MIL and generator failure indicator (looks like a battery). The condition of the battery can also cause generator failure, if the battery is defective (buckled plates, weak electrolyte, low water, etc.) it will place a very high load on the generator continuously, causing it to 'full field' the rotor which can cause the rotor to overheat and fail. Never run a generator without the battery terminals connected as this will cause it to fail quite spectacularly. Do not attempt to verify output of the generator with the battery terminal leads disconnected.

If generator failure is indeed the cause, find out why. Generators rarely fail. When they do, it usually is caused by poor ground connections, corroded battery terminals, high continuous loads, electrical faults and poorly-wired ancillary equipment, such as head units, amplifiers, inverters, etc. Always check all these out when replacing the generator. Never run a generator without the battery terminals connected as this will cause it to fail quite spectacularly.

Just changed oil and filters in car. go to start the car and the window wipers wont turn off, there is a buzzing coming from underneath the steering wheel, when the right indicator is on it flashes ni


when you removed the filter was there any wiring loom/harness that you may have disturbed ? this is a strange one , if there is no obvious way you may have disloged a wiring connector i'd advice you to get an auto electrician as these faults can be a nightmare to rectify

I have a 2001 Pontiac Firebird. When i start my car, my left turn signal light comes on but the right front turn signal light remains off. If i turn my lights on, the right turn signal light then comes...


Perhaps a dicky connection somewhere. Perhaps corrosion, even moisture in the connection plugs. Inspect all connections to your indicator lights. Also check for worn or damaged wires. Also Have a look inside the lenses of the lights to see if the the globes are corroded or have water ingress etc and causing shorts to other wiring within the lighting circuits.

You may also consider turn indicator lever to on to indicate truniong right, make sure the engine off. Have someone watch right indicator and literally grab the plugs/leads to the indicator globe and give them a shake to see if the fault goes away. If it doe stop intermitantly then it will help point you in the correct area.

2004 honda pilot "d" indicator light


This is a signal for the Transmission Sensor.

Mine was a faulty sensor. It can be bad news.

Best to have it checked by someone with the right code reader...

Hi I am Vortash the battery light is an indicator to if the Alternator is charging or not .. if the light is on it is saying that it isn't , check the plug and wire connections to the alternator check your earth strap from your negative side of the battery to earth or if it is a continental positive earth car check the + side is attched to the earth securely and cleanly .. check the output from the alternator you should be gettinfg approx 13.5 to 14 .5 volts DC if not switch to ac if you get a reading the rectifier has gone and will need replacing ..( most of the modern alternators come with new brushes attached to a rectifier as a single module ) Check the fan belt tension slipping belt can cause bad charge rate and bring the light on .if you are finding the car is becoming difficult to start the battery going low the fault is realy dead to rights a charging fault.. Right signal and brake light


Looks like the problem is in the turn signal switch. This is a common problem. When the turn signal switch goes bad it will cause problems as mentioned above by you. Replace the turn signal mechanism.

Electrical problem


Find the ground wire on one of the lights and add another ground wire to a good clean metal surface and see if that fixes the problem. It defently sounds like a ground problem at one of the lights.

Hi, Battery light coming on occassionally. Battery is new. Any ideas, could the alternator need new brushes or rectifier? Thanks


i think you are right...the alternator may need a new set of brushes. battery light coming on and off is an indication.

a busted rectifier would not indicate an on and off light but rather a steady on light. but it has 6 diodes and one busted diode would do the same. on and off battery light depending on the load present in the system.
