Question about 2005 Kia Amanti

1 Answer

2005 kia amanti cranks then goes dead. No lights on. Some days when cold cranks and runs up to 5k rpm. This morning wouldn't run unless I keep my foot on the gas and brake then it runs fine.

The first thing I would do is check the battery terminals. If they look clean then try twisting the terminal. If you can move it it is loose! With an interruption of power to the Electronic Control Module (the computer that runs your engine) it sometimes has to relearn how to keep the engine running especially in extreme temperatures. That's why you had to keep your foot on the gas. Once the engine warms up it should begin to operate normally.

My 05 Kia Sedona keeps wanting to stall on me check engine light would come and go but now it is on permantley. Got a diagnostic and they said it was cylinder #4 spark plug or cool pack. Replaced the plug....

That would be your crank shaft sensor. It needs to be replaced. Unless your very mechanically inclined I wouldn't even attempt to do the job yourself. Also when a cps goes out you will get a misfire a lot of times. Thats what its going to be. I would bet $ on that. Good luck

What kind of battery for a 2005 KIA amanti?

Most any 12 volt battery with sufficient cold cranking amps should work however it is best to buy one that is recommended for your vehicle. In this way the physical size, amperage rating & terminal connectors will all match up to your factory specifications.

My 2005 Amanti was driving fine today. Tonight, my husband put gas in it and now it won't start. The lights are flickering on and off, the cd changer lights are blinking and the display on the screen?...

I do not see what the fuel had to do with this, unless the car was cranked for so long that the battery went down. sometimes you pump diesel and car will run about 1/2 block....

Your description sounds like an electrical based issue. Look for grounds, good connections at the battery....get the battery tested, then go on from there. Sometimes batteries fail quickly, but usually will start with a jump....your car sounds like it is not getting electrical power... (Electrically challenged...)

The check engine light came on and the RPM needle

If depends on the milage of the car, some lights come on after 100,000 miles just to remind you that maintanace is require but is good idea to run the car thru a scanner to be sure.

2005 Amanti Check engine light

check all fluids and check the trans with engine running.after you check tranny fluid turn off car and check the rest of the fluids.
then put a obd2 on the electrical connecter and verify the trouble code is from the tranny.
there may be a recall on some things with that.
also on the kia it still maybe under warranty.
these are all good ideas to start with on a car that new to save some fast money.
something is having a hard time at this point of may be the transmission but it very well could and may wind up being from a power loss from the engine.
keep me posted
hope this helps
thank you
