When you disconnected your battery, you reset the warning light. If it comes back on within a short period of time, you still have the same problem. You need to have the codes read to determine what is causing the problem. Most auto parts stores will do this for you.

When not running the engine for a week, the battery dies. When I jump start it, engine will start cranking very slow and pickup speed before it starts running.

it seems like the battery is going. clean battery terminals, also the grounding to the body (engine block, transmission, etc.) all should be shiny cleaned. suggest you go to autozone (or other auto parts) for a free battery & alternator tests.

Something is draining the battery on my 1985 Ford Ranger 2.3 and alternator, starter and voltage regular tested as good. What else could be draining the battery?

Best thing to do is disconnect the neg battery terminal put your volt meter on amps and hook it up in series from the neg cable head to the battery neg and disconnect fuses one at a time until the draw goes away, then narrow it down from there

What makes your car loose a charge if u replaced the battery and alt 1994bmw 318i

To check for a drain disconnect the negative at the battery, Connect a test light to the neg battery and the other end to the neg wire. If the light comes on some thing is pulling power.(make sure the doors are closed and everything is turned off. Pull fuses out one at a time and put them back in place before moving to the next one. Watch the light to see if it changes or goes out. If it goes out you found the problem circuit. Some things are are hooked up to the battery full time so a very faint light is normal when testing.(also have seen power window motors fill up with water and cause this problem)

I replaced battery first,...... then alternator on 2005 Focus. altenator was a bear to replace,.....still have(red) battery warning light,....... Thinking wiring,..corrosion...or tension pully is...

the alternator is a doodle to change ,when you know how ?? was it a new recon unit or a secondhand scrapyard job---- check for power to teh large terminal the start engine and disconnect neg battery terminal if engine stops alternator fault ,if engine keep running but red light still on then its warning light control fault which is built into alternator so change alternator .

Battery will dran over a short time and is the second new battery

The best way I have found to hunt down a current draw is with a multi meter set to the DCA setting (this will detect DC current flow). With the vehicle shut off, systematically remove fuses one at a time and place the leads from the meter in the connectors that held the fuse (one lead per fuse connection). You should have a little current flowing to the radio, for the clock, and maybe some to the engine computer and, if equipped, the alarm, the rest of the circuits should have no draw. This will narrow down your search to one circuit in the car, which can than be further diagnosed, usually it's a wire with the insulation rubbed through.
P.S. if the car has any after market equipment, such as audio amplifiers, start your search there. Hope this helps, good luck!!!!

02 ford focus battery dies over night having problems checking for a draw in the system any help

Disconnect the negative battery cable and put a test light between the cable end and the neg post. If there is a draw, the light will light. Remember the doors need to be closed and the underhood light disconnected (these are draws as well). If the light is lit there is a draw. Removing fuses until the light goes out can pinpoint the circuit. Finding the actual short can tougher.

  5. if light is on you have a draw
  6. Find it by getting into car door closed
  7. remove fuses one at a time
  8. when the light goes out that is the Circut that is drawing the bat down
