Can the kill switch on a 2000 montero sport be bypassed by shorting across both starter solenoid terminals when the key is on? Have tried everything else.

if I ever run across a "how to steal a car" section, I'd be happy to post replies that will injure the person trying to bypass anti-theft systems.
I have posted half a dozen replies to this affect today alone.
If you are in need of bypassing anti-theft systems, the best bet is to take it to a shop....or tow it.

I hope you can see through my sarcasm and realize that posting the correct answer would just teach car thieves new tricks.

Anti theft light won't go out

There are 2 things to try:
1) Use your key to manually unlock the driver's side door - sometimes this alone is enough to reset your security system.
2) Put your key in the ignition and turn to ON position (do not try to start the car, just turn to ON)- after 30 seconds, attempt to start the car and see if the security light goes out.

I have a2000 mitsubishi montero sport that rolls over but well not start.i change pump stel no ful the code is 1610.

That is the code for the immobilizer function which is an anti-theft feature on your vehicle. You may check your fuses to see if one is blown, otherwise you may be having trouble with the immobilizer system itself. Here is some information regarding the immobilizer system http://www.meaa-mea.com/products/b_immobilizer.asp

I PUT MY KEY IN THE IGNITION AND MY CAR WONT START AND I TOOK OFF THE WHOLE IGNITIONG AND PUT ONE IN FROM THE JUNK YARD AND EVERYTHING TURN ON IN THE CAR BUT THE CAR WONT START WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE IT...

The ignition key and the ignition switch are part of the anti theft security system. The anti theft system has been triggered and the ignition system will no longer start the car. The only way to get it working again is to take it to a dealership and have them install a new ignition switch with matching key and control module. These three parts plus labor will cost you at least $1,000.00.

I left my lights on. I jump the battery but now it won't start because of some safty feature, I don't have my key fob to turn it off. How can I turn it off?

Sometimes, but not always, you can turn off the anti-theft system by locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key. Usually this happens after a battery has gone dead, such as yours did, and the anti-theft is triggered accidentally by the loss of battery power to it. I usually remove the key from the ignition, shut all the doors, lock the drivers door with the key, then unlock it with the key, and then attempt to start the engine. Often the anti-theft will allow the engine to crank but won't let it start. You could have some other problems but I'd start by trying this first.

1999 Mitsubishi Montero XLS Sport has an electrical problem. I've replaced the alternator 5 times in the last 24 months, and a new battery was installed 17 months ago. A local Mitsubishi dealership has...

I have had a similar problem with mine. The repair shop is telling me there is oil seeping into the alternator and shorting it out. I am going to soo if I can put some sort of shielding around it to prevent this.

Anti theft light comes on when driving

no cutoff switch!! try this turn key to on, do not start car. let sit for about 30 minutes, after 30 minutes, turn key off. wait 15 seconds and try to start car. this should reset anti theft system.
