1997 chevy silverado blows hot air only through vents

If you know for a fact the compressor is running and one of the lines is cold, I would look for a blend door problem. The blend doors direct air thru the heater and evaporator.

Heater will not get hot. Cool air comes out the vents but will not get warm. Whats my problem?

There is an electric motor (Heater Blend Door Actuator) that moves the linkage to change where the air comes out; its located underdash at right of the gas pedal. Generally the problem is the linkages from that motor to your blend door that directs the air.

1999 Silverado - cannot get the temperature to switch from cool air to warm air when turning the knob to heat.

The temp blend door, or blend door actuator may be faulty. You can check this by watching the movement of the blend door actuator while you turn the temp selector knob. If the actuator is working, then it may be the blend door, or blend door lever broken. If these are ok then the control head may be faulty.

1999 1500 silverado heater

Sounds like the blend door in the ducting has failed, this door is what controls the temp of the outlet air by blending heat and outside air or AC cooled air.
