I say leave alone, (repeat that 3 times)
and win.
its covered in the SM the service manual.
since you dont have that, how can one blame it.
or is this for show and tell, send kid to school with dads TCM.
learn that in the mid 90s, the TCM box was moved in to the confines of the ECU and then on that day reanamed PCm.
there are exceptions, with some engines (diesel, and CvT trans option)but like most posts, no driveline stated, nor VIN.
why not try to buy one at and find it not there.
right?> ???

ok, now ill show ours our USA KJ jeep.
42RLE trans.
here I will quote the first paragraph of the SM
KJ, chapter,21 page 39

Control of the transmission is accomplished by
fully adaptive electronics. Optimum shift scheduling
is accomplished through continuous real-time sensor
feedback information provided to the Transmission
Control Module (TCM) portion of the Powertrain
Control Module (PCM).

see there is no TCM to find,
its in the PCM. now for many long years.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!
