1: check fuses first !
2: scan it next, i bet you there are DTC errors, you are missing.
3: check fluids levels?
my guess is you mean the automatic transmission skips gears.
this is limphome mode,
the transmissions are smarter now, if somethings bad,
it goes to self preservation mode, (same as engine ,same mode)
to avoid $3000 in damage.
scan it (get it scanned, buy the tool, rent it or barrow one)
or get it serviced.
