SOURCE: my security light is on and my car dies right

to reset passlock system, Turn the engine two seconds then leave the key in the run position for exactly ten minutes...the anti-theft security light should go from blinking to solid at the ten minute mark. Immediatly run the engine and the Passlock is reset. Good Luck!!

2002 dodge ram 1500 starts right up every time, but dies in 2-3 seconds. Shows code p1686 (no skim bus message received) but I do not hav a chipped key. Please help!!

Have you changed the ignition switch or PCM recently? The PCM is expecting to receive a signal through the PCI bus that a valid key has been inserted into the ignition switch and read by the SKIM (sentry key immobilizer module) attached to the ignition switch. You need to have the PCM programmed (by the dealer or someone who has a DRB Scan Tool - factory type scan tool), to let it know that you do not have the SKIS (system) installed in your Dakota.

Lost key to 2002 Mustang 3.8 what's the cheapest fastest way to fix? Can I bypass the anti theft system? Buy new ignition and key will that work?

You can't bypass the Anti theft system or there would be no point in fitting it. You need a new key from a dealer and the the dealer needs to pair the key with the chip in the lock. Sometimes it will self reset if you disconnect the battery for 5 minutes.

Put a battery in a 2002 Camry and won't start. All the bells going off inside the car but won't turn over

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

Which wires used to hot wire 2001 aztek

You can't ...It is a GM car and is protected by a passkey system that kills the ignition and injectors to prevent unauthorized key usage.. It is not mechanical, it is electronic and uses the cars computer and a recognized signal generated by the key to activate a passcode that tells the computer to start the car.. No code...No start... A special module would have to be wired into the circuit to mimic the keys signal to do that... You would have to have a reader and the correct module to match the signal programed into the key.

Signal wire to starter in and out. starter ok. showed code po513 went back to dealer had computer reprogramed. still doing same thing. intermintted problem so hard to detecked.

Your truck has the infamous Passlock anti-theft system. The ignition key has two small black rectangles with a small wire running down the length of the center on either side of the key shaft. When you insert the key into the ignition lock, the wires in the small black rectangles contact a sensor in the lock cylinder. These sensors complete a path to the Electronic Control Module (ECM), which tells the fuel and starter circuits to engage. If the key wires or lock cylinder sensor are damaged or dirty, the signal is not sent to the ECM, your truck will not start, and it may even die while running. The dealers remedy this by selling you a new ignition lock cylinder, and they cut a new key with the proper value to match the old key. This will run you $500 to $600 or more. There are ways to bypass your Passlock system, and several are detailed in Youtube videos. I'd suggest watching a few of them and determine which bypass method works for you. Good luck.

Your ford dealer visit may not be as expensive as you think, you need 2 pats keys and have them perform an ignition key code erase then they should be able to program your 2 new keys, The Ford Dealer I work at only charges 0.5hrs or approx $50.00 dollars Canadian.
