Whenever a new belt is fitted it should be re-tensioned after a day or 2. See here

How to fix 2002 toyota camry hard steering

Check the power steering fluid levels. Also the pump may need replacing if it isn't delivering enough hydraulic pressure to the steering box. Be sure to lube all the steering components on the chassis if possible.

Where can i find a timing belt for my toyota camry 1995.

Look for the engine side that has the accessories like the alternator.. power steering etc.. It should have belts that turn these items.. There will be a black plastic cover on the engine located behind these belts mentioned above.. The timing belt is located behind that cover.. Hope this helps..

How to change power steering pump

  • Lift the front of the Camry with the jack. Put jack stands beneath the chassis to support the weight of the car. Take off the front wheels with the tire iron.
  • Unbolt the plastic apron seats on the inside of the fender wells with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Put the drain pan underneath the power steering pump on the passenger side of the engine.
  • Remove the lines running into the power steering pump, using a line wrench, and pull off the vacuum lines. Loosen the adjustment bolts on the power steering pump with an open-end wrench, and pull the belt off the pump.
  • Unbolt the power steering pump from the engine block with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket, then remove the pump from the vehicle

Where can i locate the power steering "stuff" in a 1995 Toyota Camry? The steering is hard one minute and smooth the next...

If the power comes on and off, in all probability it is not a mechanical failure. Seems like the belt that drives the steering pump is loose, and when extra power is required, such as in a tight turn, then it slips and stops providing power assistance. Poke the belt with a finger to see if it loose, and tighten it accordingly. These pumps do not require much power, and the belt does not require to be extremely tense. By trial and error, tighten it bit by bit until it stops slipping. Over tensioning will provoke a failure of the pump pulley. Also check if the pulley or belt have grease on them, because that will contribute to slipping.

If the timing belt goes is the motor gone? on a 1995 camry

Most times when the timing belt goes it results in bending a couple of the inlet valves because the pistons are coming up as the valves are going down.

Worst case is that the valves punch holes in the piston crowns

You should remove the rocker box covers and camshafts to check that all of the valve stems can be moved or more to the point all come back up to sit at the same level proving that they are travelling straight in the valve guides.

If any of them fail to sit level they are not seating on the valve face and the engine will not run anyway, in that case you will need to take the head or heads off to do a manual inspection.

    Steering system

It very possible that the new power steering pump is defective. I would take it back for a possible warranty issue.

I'm confused about the part where the water pump damaged the power steering pump. The power steering pump doesn't require any cooling from the water pump. The power steering pump only needs the belt to run it properly.
