Oil leak on driveway coming from front of engine

Dear Sir,
Here is the oil leaking Problem Identifying Technique

Engine oil leaks from the valve cover gasket are common.

  • The intake manifold plenum gasket may leak and cause increased oil consumption/burning and a spark knock during acceleration; the gasket should be replaced.
  • External oil leaks from valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets (front or rear), and the rear crankshaft (rear main) seal area are common. The rear main seal is an unlikely source. Normally, the bearing cap mating surfaces (as well as the sealing surface between the oil pan and bearing cap) are the source for the leaks.
  • Engine oil leaks at the distributor can be misdiagnosed as leaks from theintake manifold seal, oil pan gasket, or rear crankshaft (rear main) seal. A revised distributor is available if oil is found inside the distributor.
  • If the oil filter casing shows signs of distortion from excessive oil pressure, theoil pump should be replaced.
  • Often misdiagnosed as a leaking oil filter gasket, the oil filter adapter can seep from between the adapter and engine block.
  • Carbon buildup on the top of the piston is common. As the buildup increases with mileage and over time, symptoms may vary from light ticking, to ticking/hammering, to hammering/knocking noises. Fuel injector cleaner often solves the problem.

  • I think it helps to analyse u r Problem

I see oil leaking from the bottom of my 2001 sabura forester how can i tell whats wrong

Wipe it down clean and watch for the origin of the leak. May need to drive it awhile. Not that many places for oil to leak...valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, oil filter gasket, drain plug, front and rear crankshaft main seals (but these would be from center of engine), timing cover gasket seal...Look carefully, and you'll probably spot it. Good luck.

I WANT TO PUT A 1985 5.8 HO FROM A F250. INTO A 1999 F150 5.4. WILL THIS BE A DIRECT SWAP? MOTOR MOUNTS, TRANNY, ETC. I UNDERSTAND I WILL HAVE TO USE THE 5.4 INTAKE, PULLIES, AND FUEL RAILS ETC.

check with an auto parts store to see if both engines/vehicles use the same front end gasket/seal and/or motor mounts. im for real- just have autozone or whoever look up the part numbers for the mounts and fronnt end gasket/seal for both vehicles, and if they match, then it should be a go.

the front end gasket/seal is locaded between the engine and tranny, and if both models/engines use the same gasket/seal, then the trannys will match up perfectly.

Ford mondeo 1.8 td diesel, the problem is the power steering fluid is leaking, when i check it look like it was coming from the middle part of the radiator.how can i fix it and what parts do i need to get...

Have a look at the power steering fluid cooler it is just in front of the radiator behind the front bumper. The coolers corrode and leak. Also the seals can go, check for fluid leaking out of the boots at the track rods. Try this procedure :--- 1)Trace the source of the leak. Use a mirror on an extended handle to follow the puddle of fluid on your garage floor to the power steering system. Look on the hoses and gaskets to find from where the fluid could be leaking. 2) Add power steering stop leak additive to your power steering fluid. Lucas Power Steering Stop Additive is 100 percent guaranteed to stop seal leaks. In older cars, the seals shrink, causing leaks. The stop leak makes the seals swell to their original size. 3) Use gasket sealant if the gaskets are old and leaking. Sealant, such as Permatex, is resistant to engine fluids, and will help repair a leaky gasket. 4) Replace the gasket, if the gasket sealant does not work. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I am looking to buy a 96 ford f250 powerstroke 7.3L. It needs a new oil pan gasket and or a rear main seal. I just want to make sure im not getting screwed on this deal. how much would it cost to repair...

The pan gasket is cheap. Remove the pan install new gasket. A shop would charge around $100. Now the main seal, it will run you $800+ to fix. Difficult and time consuming.
