How do i replace the timing after changing the distibutor?

According to nissan owners club online, you only have to hook up the timing light and adjust it. I think it is set at 15 degrees but check the sticker on the hood.

I changed the ignition coil, the wires, and plugs, still only 2 plugs firing. what is my problem ?

It would help greatly if you wore more spicfic about what kind of vehicle and year also engine you have . But that being said the problem probably lies in the electronic ignition module or the cam shaft pisition sensor or the distibutor shaft or distibutor shaft gear to the cam shaft

Have taken distibutor out of engine how do I retime engine

The easy way to find Top Dead Center is to take out # 1 spark plug and put your finger in the hole in the block. Get someone to crank the engine over as slow as you can until you feel air pressure blow by your finger. turn engine by hand until timing marks line up with 0 mark on harmonic dampener. you are now ready to install distibutor . make sure the rotor points to #1 cylinder when fully seated. It is also a good idea to line up the oil pump shaft slot with distibutor grove and it will drop in easier. Good Luck.

Changing pickup coil

You have to remove the distributor from the engine then remove the distributor shaft from the distibutor housing, then you can remove & replace the pickup coil. Make sure you marke the exact location of the distributor body in relation to the intake manifold and note exactly where the rotor is pointing in relation to the distributor cap. I always set the timing marks on the front pulley at zero and make sure that the rotor is pointing at the #1 plug wire terminal on the cap before removing any distributor as it makes getting it in time easier if you lose your marks. You should reset the ignition timing when you have it all back together again as you'll most likely be off a few degrees. Some of these distributors had problems with the magnets in the distibutor shaft that would mimic a failing pickup coil and they were prone to drive gear wear. If you suspect any of those problems it's often easier to replace the entire distibutor with a reman unit.

I just put a new distibutor in my GF 1998 civic It was throwing a 1362 code new distibutor solved that engine light is out, but now the car stumbles on acceleration of idle. It did not do this with the old...

the best thing is take that distributor out, exchange for other new one. make sure the new distributor is a right year for your car and model . good luck

I have a Honda Odyssey with a code po300,po3002,po3004,po3005

what all have you tried? Since these are all cylinder misfire codes my suggestions would be to replace the spark plugs, the spark plug wires and then the distibutor/coil pack. Once those have been changed those codes should be reset and never come back. If they do then there is a more serious problem.
