SOURCE: How to undo left hand back wheel studs?

With the car on flat and level ground with a wheel chocked, slacken off a little with the wheel wrench anticlockwise. Then jack the car up. You can stand on the wrench if it is a good fit.

If you really mean remove the studs themselves rather than the nuts, there are two ways. Lock two nuts tightly together and undo, or use a stud remover which grips the non-threaded part.

Need help to change front wheel stud on 1999 honda civic EX

1. first take the wheel off so you can see the the caliper and the rotor. make sure the car is on stands and not just waving around on a jack.
2. look behind the caliper and use your finger to locate, a pair of bolts behind the caliper... they will be holding the caliper into place on the suface of the rotor, by a simple look and feel you can see these, they should take a 17mm socket undo them and remove the bolts. at this stage you should see the the caliper become loose.
3. remove the caliper by pulling it up and away from the rotor
4. now you can see the rotor remove this it will simply slide away.
5. this will leave the hub exposed and the studs.. you will see that they are wedged into the hub
6. remove the stud/s by hitting them / it with a hammer be carful to not damage the other studs if you just replacing one.
7. there is one spot where the will be a gap and you will be able to get the stud in behind the hub and have a little bit of room, rotate the hub to there, make sure the car is out of gear or this will be very difficult :)
8 once the stud is in take something you can use as a spacer like a larger then the stud nut. for example and then put one of the wheel nuts on and tighten slightly
9. use a hammer and drive the back of the stud home, and slowly tighten the wheel nut as you go.
10. once this is done your finished put all the bits back togeather in the oppersite order and replace the wheel.

How do you undo left wheel studs?

If you are trying to change a broken or bad threads on a wheel stud you only have to tap it with a hammer to drive it out of the hub. You install new ones with a nut that is larger than the threads on the new stud. You put the new stud in from the back of the hub, put the larger nut over the stud and use a lug nut and a wrench to pull the new stud tight into the hub.

Where is jacking point for front tyre change of isuzu npr 200 short truck

under the outer ball joint if independent suspension or under the beam axle under the spring
If you do not know how to jack your vehicle before the problem arises maybe you should not be driving it.
look at the wheel studs ans there will be an L or an R punched on the end of the stud. R is for right hand side ans is undone just like a normal bolt
L will be on the left hand side and is a left hand thread which means that in effect you have to do it up to undo it.

How to replace rear wheel studs on a 2008 Chrysler Aspen?

  • Sounds like the axles have to be pulled to get the studs out. Not that familiar with Aspens but if it wont clear the backing plate the hub assembly has to move out away from it.

On my 97" Suburban do

It depends. For a regular 1/2 ton and most 3/4 tons no, just remove the caliper and the rotor comes off over the wheel bearing hub. 1 ton suburbans, require more work, you will require a large socket to remove the axle nut, and a slide hammer or 3 jaw puller big enough to pull off the rotor and wheel bearing as an assembly. The rotor on some 3/4 tons and all 1 tons bolt from behind thru the wheel bearing and need to be removed together. The wheel bearing has to be unbolted from the spindle, then the wheel studs have to be punched thru to remove the rotor. The splines on the wheel studs hold the rotor to the wheel bearing. 1 ton will say 3500 on the side, 2500 for 3/4 ton and 1500 for 1/2 tons.

Removing front rotar

rotar doesn't contain the studs, the plate/hub behind the rotar does - you need a 32mm socket to undo the axle nut to then get at the hub (need a flat screw driver to lever the nut tang up first). If it's seized on put the rotar and wheel back on (leave the axle nut off) and gently rock it in a top-bottom motion (not radially or axially) to free it up. you can then gain access to the hub and studs. put the wheel nuts back on the studs 2 -3 turns so that you have a 'seat' and using a bolt with a smaller dia to punch them out
